longer length tops

I am bigger than I used to be and longer length tops (which cover the tummy and bum) are what I like these days. Lands End used to do a "tall" range, and the shirts and tee-shirts from that range were great. I am short (5 foot 3) so they came up nice and long on me and, I thought at least, they were more flattering. They have stopped doing the tall range now though, which is sad.

I am looking for more tops like that (t-shirts and smarter ones too) ie "normal" sort of shape but just longer (not the specially swingy or flouncy ones, which purport to hide the wobbly bits but make me look like a pudding). Any suggestions?

I miss LE tall range too.

Next have a tall range, and plenty of shops sell what they describe as “tunics”, but I find with all retailers these days it’s a matter of reading the small print for measurements. When I do find something that’s long enough ( i.e. 75 cms) I stock up in all colours. It’s not easy and some years are worse than others, depending on trends.

Tunic jumpers which are only 63 cm long are my particular bugbear.

I do all shopping online and if the length of a garment isn’t shown but it looks promising I email to ask. Life would be easier with a search filter for garment length.

Yes, I wonder why they discontinued. They surely must have been popular both with tall skinny people, and with short plump people like me? I did buy six identical shirts that I particularly liked when they were available, but that was about three years ago and they all are getting old now...

I might write to them, although that probably won't change their mind!

I do go for tunics at White Stuff and other places, but they can make me look fatter if they are swingy/ pleated, or, as you say, actually be too short (or too long). The idea about checking length is a good one, I will go and measure my favourite Lands End shirt and then see if I can find others the same length...

And thanks for the tip about Next tall range. I am going to order from there and see how they are. I generally don't find Next as good quality as I would like but for some casual t-shirts it will be fine if they are the right length.

I’ve got quite a few of the Hush long line vest and long sleeve tops, they last really well.

Thanks, will take a look

Next's longline vest tops are really stretchy and if you're less than 5'5'' you can almost pull them down to be a mini dress!

The only problem with them is the lack of colour choice. 90% of the time there's only black, navy or white available online.
