Does anyone else think they're in difficulties? I don't ever remember getting so many discount / sale promotions from them as I seem to get now!

I think they are suffering staff wise - my usual one seems to have lost v experienced staff over the pandemic and to be honest it takes a pretty good salesperson to flog £200 face creams etc!

Also the rise of dupes and buyers clubs and the ordinary must be a bit hurty.

hopeishere · 01/04/2022 14:42

The staff in my local one are very helpful but some of the products are SO expensive!! Shock

I think all high end beauty retailers are struggling a bit to keep customers coming in. Cult beauty also sends a discount code at least once a week. People with disposable income spent more on skincare during the lockdowns but I imagine this might have changed now.

Tinkletwat · 01/04/2022 17:16

I only shop there when there is a discount on really, or if I'm trying to boost my points. I have to laugh at some of the ridiculously expensive products they stock and often feed back they could do with adding some more mid range brands.

Staff at my local branch are helpful and I've seen them there for a number of years.

ArabeI · 01/04/2022 17:23

I only buy from there if I'm looking for a lesser known product I can't find anywhere else; the last was an American make up brand. I think you can generally buy cheaper, and more quickly delivered, from places like Cult Beauty. Though that might not actually be the case.

MissingGrandstand · 01/04/2022 17:31

I think it might have something to do with the brands they stock now being stocked elsewhere - loads of brands I only used to find on SpaceNK are now available on other sites that offer discount codes more regularly, so it makes sense that they could be under pressure to match. But I totally agree with you - I’ve had to unsubscribe because my stupid brain hasn’t clocked that a SpaceNK sale isn’t a rarity any more and I was too tempted Grin

TooManyMehTooLittleThyme · 01/04/2022 17:35

I'd hope that they aren't going under, for many reasons.

They were the expensive/exclusive beauty product shop a decade ago. Very good at it too.
I think that the arrival of Cult Beauty has really dented their market share.

Space NK don't seem to be doing their 4 x a year gift with purchases anymore, which is a huge shame, it encouraged me to spend money and I found some excellent products through the testers in their gifts.
I wish they would start doing them again.

In their shops, my experience has always been really positive.

IMO Space NK hasn't kept pace with it's competitors. I think that it needs to take a look at it's stock ranges, the current skincare and beauty trends and adapt to these. It hasn't changed with the times as much as it could have.

Beauty is definitely a competitive market but I'm really hoping that it doesn't become obsolete, it was so good and could be again without a huge amount of effort.

Mercurial123 · 02/04/2022 13:09

I love their customer service so much better than Cult Beauty or any other beauty brand that's part of the Hut Group.

I've been shopping with them since they started in the early 90's. Their staff are super helpful and friendly.

PollyIndia · 02/04/2022 16:35

Also love space nk. I just booked a facial with them - Paula';s choice, pay £50 and redeemable against any PC purchase. Worth signing up to their mailing list as they do lots of these with different brands

VerityPJohnson · 02/04/2022 16:40

I saw they are just about to open a new shop in Neal Street, Covent Garden.

I ordered something from them recently and it took two weeks to arrive in store, so wouldn't bother again unless it was considerably cheaper. (They said the post was having difficulties in the area, which was true, but I'd just assumed they'd have internal logistics for getting orders into store, not be relying on Royal Mail to show up).

TeddyTrucks · 02/04/2022 16:51

I bloody love SpaceNK. They're the only ones to offer a halfway decent loyalty programme (especially if you spend aa mich in there as I do) and their staff reqlly know their onions.

Re the number of offers/emails, it's nowhere near Look Fantastic or Feel Unique who email me at least once per day, sometimes as many as three times, and none of their offers are any good. You get a gift on your birthday and invitations to try out products that haven't been launched yet....what's not to like?!

Lndnmummy · 02/04/2022 17:15

I have completely fallen out of love with them. They hardly stock any products in the stores anymore and I no longer rate the staff. I was in the clapham one this morning and it was just so meh. The one in spitalfields is dreadful too.

Tinkletwat · 03/04/2022 16:34

I think Cult Beauty have been taken over by The Hut Group (who own LF) and I've seen some bad press about how they treat their staff so I'll be moving away from using them now. The SpaceNK birthday gift is nowhere near as good as it used to be, decent sized small bottles of perfume & body lotion, Eve Lom Kiss Mix are a couple of things I remember. Now it just seems to be testers of skin cream I'm never going to drop £95 quid on.

SocksAndTheCity · 03/04/2022 17:11

I just had a wander over there and the Sunday Riley range is 20% off - I had £15 of loyalty points to use too so that was good timing!

I love the place (although I must admit I don't go in the shop that often even though I live less than fifteen minutes' walk from one). I haven't used Cult Beauty since they took three months to refund me after their courier lost my parcel, and I haven't used LF since THG took them over. Space NK is fine for me Smile

Nitgel · 03/04/2022 17:17

They never seem to have stock.in my one and stuff can be bought online cheaper

Mystery2345 · 03/04/2022 17:19

Same here on lack of stock in stores - maybe they carry too many products these days? I would also like to be able to browse without being interrupted (once is fine but when you've said you don't need any help and get asked again it gets annoying!)

Decent loyalty programme

SpotALeopard · 03/04/2022 17:25

Lots of discounts and sales, but I mostly buy diptyque products from them and these are never in the sales now. So I’m seeing fewer promotions that tempt me.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 03/04/2022 18:10

I've stopped bothering to be honest. They used to be quite cutting edge for brands but they are still stocking Laura Mercier and NARS, Aesop and Diptyque which are all fairly ubiquitous these days. I'd like to see more current stuff or at least newer more interesting ranges.

PoshPyjamas · 03/04/2022 18:59

often feed back they could do with adding some more mid range brands

I completely disagree - I think they need to be going more niche - Natasha Denona and Pat McGrath.
