Where on earth can I find a lovely dress or jumpsuit or whatever?

I have a healthy budget, size 10, young 36 and slightly 'alternative' (cringe) taste.

Aibu to ask for help! Please

@Lemonlemon88

What do you like? Alternative could mean anything! Colourful? Interesting lines? 50s? Sparkly? Full skirts? Tight?
Grungey, skatery, indie

Ganni? Vampires wife (might be a bit more ££) rixo? All on net a porter.

@LDB1985

Try stitch fix! You could ask for 5 outfits for the wedding and pick the one you like and send everything else back. If you don’t like anything it will only cost £10. I’ve done it a few times and got lovely stuff (including 2 jumpsuits) each time that I wouldn’t have found/tried on otherwise.
Have restarted my membership, will see what they can conjure up

Self portrait?
Sezanne?
Reiss actually had some nice things when I last looked.
There is a lot of 'ooh that's nice...oh but the midriff has been cut out' though....

I love Izabel dresses www.izabel.com/collections/ladies-dresses

They are stocked by quite a few places such as M&Co and Department Stores so you could try some on. You'd probably be an eight in them. Do ignore the more mainstream ones if you want quirky.

dreamkitchenhelp · 01/04/2022 10:57

I love that Nancymac green velvet jump suit, if you could rock that go for it.

Sciurus83 · 01/04/2022 11:00

The NancyMac the NancyMac! Gillian Anderson wore it in something and it was stratospheric in its majesty...it could be you!

Sooverthemill · 01/04/2022 11:01

@shrodingersvaccine I am a uk size 10 usually and ghost dress size S fits me fine

tulips27 · 01/04/2022 11:01

How about something from Cos? Smart and well-made yet original design.

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 01/04/2022 11:02

Look on Vinted. There is loads, lots of excellent condition designer clothes for bargin prices. I love it!

Daisydoesnt · 01/04/2022 11:06

Is it just me, or is jumpsuit a bad idea for a wedding? Isn't it a complete faff going to the loo? I have bought two jump-suits recently so say this as a complete fan!

Lougle · 01/04/2022 11:06

The Nancy Mac jumpsuit is gorgeous but won't it be a bit hot to wear it in July?

Ohsugarhoneyicetea · 01/04/2022 11:06

The outnet have some nice occasion wear among the dross

I like a beautiful top and plain well cut trousers for weddings, as both can be used again and dressed up or down.

Actually, ignore my suggestion of Cos, it seems more casual than I remember it.

Pamparam · 01/04/2022 11:27

With your healthy budget, look on Wolf and Badger. Lovely, expensive things and quite quirky

SpidersAreShitheads · 01/04/2022 11:28

I would love to wear a jumpsuit but I carry my weight on my belly - I don't think there are any that work with my body shape. Same with dungarees.

I love those Nancy Mac jumpsuits!

JemimaTiggywinkle · 01/04/2022 11:28

SilkFred - loads of variety. Way under budget but might give you some nice ideas.

Branleuse · 01/04/2022 11:29
