Is it worth it?

I've got my eye on a summer dress but can't quite work out if their 'buy less, buy better ' [for the planet] is a clever marketing trick or if the quality is any better than clothes half the price.

Nice clothes but awful service if you need to return anything

Imabitbusyatthemoment · 31/03/2022 15:15

Great quality. Agree about the returns.

They sell through John Lewis, so I’d try and buy through them if you can.

Gillybobs · 31/03/2022 16:51

Quality is excellent
Returns are slow but if you email them a copy of your proof of postage they refund immediately

KatharinaRosalie · 31/03/2022 20:42

quality is good. I have several jersey tops and dresses, the type you would normally expect to be shapeless and bobbly after a few washes. Still look like new after several years of regular wear.

PanicAtTheDisco2000 · 31/03/2022 20:53

There are fairly regular discounts if you can hold off and therefore not buy full price. I have velour joggers, long sleeve tops, sweatshirts, a blouse, and a cashmere hoody from them. The quality is very good and washes well. I have found returns fine unlike a lot of posters on here.

HermioneWeasley · 31/03/2022 21:44

Quality is very good. I don’t think I’ve had to return anything

Gillybobs · 31/03/2022 21:59

There's 20pc off code in woman and home magazine, think it's WHBK20

TheDogsMother · 31/03/2022 22:03

I bought some tops through John Lewis and the quality is great. Presumably through John Lewis overcomes the returns issue too.

MsDastardley · 31/03/2022 22:24

I think it’s great quality, but finding a lot of styles too fussy and a frill too far. Some odd colours this season imo. Agree that returns can be lengthy. Don’t rate the recycled knitwear. I find it quickly stretches at cuffs and hem, needs washing after each wear. As my mum would say, feels like it’s lost it’s bent!

WhiteSandyBeach · 01/04/2022 00:17

Agree with others - clothes are lovely quality and worth the money, but returns are slow slow slow.

Boscoforever · 01/04/2022 05:10

I love Baukjen. Quality is very good. Everything washes so well. It is definitely worth the money, in my opinion.
Agree that sales are worth waiting for.

Porridgeislife · 01/04/2022 05:58

Anything they make with Ecovero is good and lasts very well. Agree with PP that their merino is not very nice.

There’s pretty much always a 20% discount floating around somewhere.

I do resent that they give endless free clothes to every minor influencer going but their customer service is pretty crap - will take your money without letting you know something is out of stock and painfully slow to refund.

RonSwan · 01/04/2022 08:14

I get annoyed that they show some lovely outfits then when you go to buy you find out they are on preorder…I bought (and they charged me) for a dress a couple of months ago and I’m still waiting….it will be the wrong season by the time it arrives. They have a lovely cardi on there at the moment I’d like to buy but it is preorder only not available till the end of April so I’m not touching it. Why advertise (and charge!) if you can deliver?! Frustrating!

RonSwan · 01/04/2022 08:15

*can’t deliver

Gillybobs · 01/04/2022 08:25

The preorder situation is a key part of their commitment to sustainability... they guage interest then order from supplier accordingly. Once I read about this I felt less annoyed about it.

Porridgeislife · 01/04/2022 08:28

I’d like to think that, but given their terrible communication and customer service I think it’s more a matter of aggressive cash flow management.

There’s always end of season sales if something doesn’t perform well.

BuddhaAtSea · 01/04/2022 08:33

Most of my tops are from them. They wash really really well and still look new several years later. To me, it’s worth it.
I tend to buy in the sales several items. Never had to return anything.

@Gillybobs ah I see…it does make sense…but… I am slightly skeptical that it is just a convenient cover for poor supply chain management.

JinglingHellsBells · 01/04/2022 10:00

I signed up for emails and already am a bit peed off about their aggressive marketing. The first email gave me 10% discount but ONLY if I ordered in 7 days, Great, thanks for nothing!

I didn't, and now they have offered to extend it and also offer 15% off a dress that was/ is out of stock as a 'thanks for waiting'.

I am getting emails daily- their marketing policy needs looking at IMO.
