Where to find tight-fitting workout vest tops?

IceIceBabyBump · 30/03/2022 20:51

I’m struggling to find gym tops – help me MN!

I like very snug, skin-tight vest tops when I workout like this kind of fit

But its really hard to find tops that fit like this. These days I find most women’s sports vests really loose and baggy which I can’t get on with at all.

I’ve had Athlete vests from Sweaty Betty in the past but they’ve recently changed their sizing and this range doesn’t fit me any more.

I’m not too keen on the Sweaty Betty Zero Gravity running vest because it’s all baggy at the bottom and looks washed out of shape to me.

And the rest of Sweaty Betty’s vests are much looser fitting which isn’t what I’m after.

Are there other sportswear shops or brands that you’d recommend for good quality clothes, that might have tops in the kind of fit that I like?

Thanks so much!

I got these recently which were a complete bargain www.asos.com/prd/23327992?acquisitionsource=pasteboard

The Sweaty Betty yoga vests are quite snug fitting. I have another SB yoga vest with a drawstring, which is nicely fitted, but I can't see that one.

And I have a Sweaty Betty Namaska tank vest, also snug.

These are usually my go-to shops for sportswear but both seem to have wall-to-wall baggy, unshapely styles these days. I've been a few times in the hope that stock has changed - nope.

The women's section in my local SD is frustratingly small so that maybe why.

I got a really great one in River Island- so good I then bought three more in the sale. Don’t know if they have similar ones now, but worth a look. Though mine are brown leopard print- may not be your vibe!

Sundried seamless vest are great, I get them from Amazon they cost from £5 to about £8. I'm a size 8-10 5ft 1 and wear a size small, they are the best gym tops I've had.

Just having a browse on Fabletics, thanks for the recommendation. It looks like all the tops are really short, sitting just on the waist - is that what you've found?

H&M do them. It’s not the most technical fabric if that’s what you’re looking for but are tight fit.

Is this what you bought @WouldBeGood ?

It's fabulous!

@IceIceBabyBump I’m short - 5”2 - and the tops sit just below my hips. It doesn’t cover my whole bum and ends about 10cm below my belly button.

I really like these and they're as cheap as chips!

Thanks, that's so useful. I really like this but it looks so short - it's half way down the model's boobs and right on the top of her hips, is she just super tall?

May I please ask about sizing - do you find Fabletics comes up large, small or just right?

One of my issues with Sweaty Betty is how small everything comes up Angry

Ryderwear, Hybrid, Halo, Gluteywear are all worth a look (not so cheap)

Thank you, I'd not come across this website.

I'm not too bothered about price. I'd actually rather pay a bit more for something that will last me years, wash and wear well.

These tops look a bit ill-fitting around the model's waist. I'd worry that they'd be done for in a couple of washes and would go all baggy/saggy.

Fabletics come up on the large size. I'm a generous 16 and take an L in the leggings.

everycowandagain · 31/03/2022 12:58

I live in these gym vests from amazon:

www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07PYFBZ5M/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_DCHS2AYPSBSBBE71VH98?psc=1

I size down for a snug fit and they wash really well, no bobbling at all.

Mummymonika · 31/03/2022 13:00

Gymshark!

ArabeI · 31/03/2022 14:06

I love the grey Fabletics vest with cut out back, but it looks longer at the back to me, but that can't be the case. I think it's just the photo. They should put model height on, as that can help with sizing.

Most of my fitted vests come above hips or shorter, though I only have SB vests and one Gymshark.

IceIceBabyBump · 31/03/2022 14:36

There's some really cool stuff on GymShark. Would you say it's true to size? I'm a size 8, 5'5.

I'm loving this top but want to make sure I get the right size!

God, yes, the model's height would be great wouldn't it?

And also, maybe to get the model's posing like normal human beings. All the sites recommended here do this which is great. But I find it a real turn off when I look on places like ASOS and Boohoo and the models are contorted into all sorts of weird poses like the lady on the current Boohoo banner. I don't want to see what the jeans will look like if I squatted for an unceremonious poo in them, I want to see how they'd hang if I were just stood at a bus stop or walking down the street. Get up, banner lady!

OP posts:
IceIceBabyBump · 31/03/2022 14:45

Like what the hell is this pose? Who ever stands like that? I understand lobbing a couple of pictures in these kind of poses into the mix but I can't get a sense of what these tights would look like on someone if they just stood up straight.
