Is this okay for a funeral?

I'm away to a funeral on Friday.

My wardrobe is very casual and very colourful 😬

This is the only funeral appropriate outfit I've really got. I don't really want to buy anything new. So, is this okay?

I'll wear either a double breasted wool jacket or a black fitted suit jacket over the top - depending on the weather.

The only other thing I have is an all black jumpsuit with embroidery across the chest area. The jumpsuit feels a bit too 'stylish' for a funeral I think

I would say that it was absolutely fine. Even more so with a coat or jacket over too.

Sorry for your loss. 🙁

muckandnettles · 29/03/2022 09:15

I think that looks very smart, absolutely fine and a smart jacket on top will look great. Hope it goes well.

DebtheSander · 29/03/2022 09:17

The blouse under a jacket or coat would be fine. I wouldn’t wear those trousers. Slim fit trousers would be ok. Skinny fit would be a no from me. But then I am of an age where I have a few funeral basics in my wardrobe as they are needed more often that I would like (aunts, uncles, neighbours sadly).

Here's the jumpsuit

I wouldn’t wear those trousers

They are absolutely fine, as is the overall outfit.

Sorry for your loss.

FlorhamPark · 29/03/2022 09:19

Yes, perfect, you look very smart.

Nnique · 29/03/2022 09:19

Yes that is absolutely fine.

I’m sorry for your loss. Flowers

Nnique · 29/03/2022 09:20

The jumpsuit isn’t right IMO - your original outfit is far better.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 29/03/2022 09:20

First outfit would be better, I think. What a great figure you have!

Condolences on your loss. Flowers

EarringsandLipstick · 29/03/2022 09:21

I'd say probably not the jumpsuit, but it's ok too.

I know funeral attire is more formal in the UK. In Ireland we go to lots of funerals, no one is invited, and while most people dress respectfully, there's no requirement to wear black & often some people will be casually dressed.

FreakinFrankNFurter · 29/03/2022 09:21

The top and trousers are perfect

Ohyesiam · 29/03/2022 09:22

I would go for jumpsuit plus jacket.
Sorry for your loss.

I know you’re not asking but you look amazing btw.

IceIceBabyBump · 29/03/2022 09:22

Also just found a black dress which I wear with black tights. But does the dress feel a bit 'styled' too??

Yes, looks lovely

waltzingparrot · 29/03/2022 09:23

Your first outfit looks very respectful, smart and acceptable.

Chimchar · 29/03/2022 09:24

You could wear a bin bag and look incredible in it I think!
All of your outfits are appropriate and you wear them well.

Which do you feel most comfortable in?

Nnique · 29/03/2022 09:24

The dress would work with black tights. The coat/jacket would tone it down enough, I think. But I still think the first outfit is most appropriate.

DebtheSander · 29/03/2022 09:24

I wouldn’t wear those trousers

The op asked for opinions. I gave mine based on the fact that I think the trousers are too casual for a funeral. The op is entitled to wear whatever she wants, whenever she wants. Opinions were sought so mine was given. The op is free to ignore.
Tiger401 · 29/03/2022 09:29

I know this is not the point of the post, but wow your figure is lovely

franke · 29/03/2022 09:33

I think with a black jacket, all three outfits would be fine.

EarringsandLipstick · 29/03/2022 09:35

@DebtheSander

I disagreed with your view & gave mine 🤷🏻‍♀️

As you say it, I can't understand how someone would think skinny trousers were inappropriate.

IceIceBabyBump · 29/03/2022 09:47

Thanks so much for all the comments. And compliments Grin

I actually feel comfortable and appropriate in all three outfits. I was a bit hesitant about the skinny trousers but I don't have black trousers in any other fit. The only slightly wider leg black trousers I have are on the jumpsuit, which seems to be bottom of the list (I agree!).

So sorry for your loss.
The first outfit is a bit casual.
Jump suit is “too much flesh”
The dress with a jacket & opaque tights is the best look from my grandmother perspective.
Don’t worry, you can only do your best & actually with maybe a scarf & gloves (it’s going to get colder this week) you’ll look lovely, poised, and most of all respectful.
Take a hanky…. to use or lend to others who attend and are less poised or well equipped!

coldfeetmama · 29/03/2022 10:38

First outfit will be perfect
