I feel so bloated. Am on HRT and Dr recently increased my oestrogen dosage.
I feel huge!!! Everything seems to have swollen over a period of a week. She has now reduced it again as going from
75mg to 100mg estradiol clearly didn't suit me.
So we've been invited to a wedding. It will be a glam affair but not black tie.
I am a size 14, 5'7" with a belly. More apple shaped than hourglass lately.
I feel awful lately. Just drained and bloated. Please tell me what I can do in two weeks to make some decent changes, even to feel better about myself.
I have a blood red satin wrap dress ( sutured wrap) and gold or red or black or nude or navy heels with same coloured bags.
Please please advise. I haven't been at a wedding in ten years ! I'm late 40's btw !
Thanks ladies .

Did you only get the invite now, or you've known for sometime?

I've read about bathing in epsom salts to drop a dress size. I have never tried it, and can only assume it has some dehdrating properties, but maybe look into it.

Get some good foundation wear for underneath to smooth everything out.

Book hair for day. If my hair is freshly done and blow dried- I feel much more confident- even if the rest of me isnt.

Can you post a photo of the dress you have?

panickingforgoodreason · 28/03/2022 16:42

This is it with sleeves mid way down the upper arm. There is a structured shoulder on the dress also.
I have dark brown hair below the shoulder and am sallow, if that helps to get an idea of what might suit with the dress . Thanks.

Quite like the shoulders on the photo actually.

Epsom. Salts sounds like a plan

Dress looks great. Have you tried it on?

thinkfast · 28/03/2022 16:45

I'd say drink loads of water and go for a sauna/ steam room somewhere followed by a massage. That can help with water retention if that's part of the problem.

panickingforgoodreason · 28/03/2022 16:46

Yes I have it and it's very comfortable but I need to get a stitch in the v part of the dress as it's a little too exposing for
My liking!

Water retention is a big problem of
Mine. I feel puffy.

Dress is lovely. I would glam up with gold heels and bag and get some good Shapewear. Above all be comfortable and enjoy the day.

Bussinbussin · 29/03/2022 04:12

I regularly bathe in epsom salts, it's good for relaxation and getting rid of aches but it most definitely doesn't make me slimmer!

Shapewear is your solution here. If you go super low carb carbs you'll pee like a racehorse and drop some water weight in the first few days.

The dress is bloody gorgeous, I'd go with cream/nude accessories, or metallic if you're in the mood.

Weatherwax13 · 29/03/2022 04:25

You sound extremely similar to me OP. Same shape/height and going through what feel like massive physical changes almost overnight Confused
It's worse than being a teen!
I would definitely go for that style of dress myself. It's a gorgeous colour ( I have longish dark hair too) and the shape is really good for those of us who want to fake more of a waist.
I'd even do the same as you re closing up the neckline slightly.
I think the metallic clutch in the picture is actually a good choice and with that vibrant red I might avoid a necklace and go with some "statement" earrings instead.
Walk confidently and you'll look fabulous 👌

Weatherwax13 · 29/03/2022 04:35

P.S. We're all different, but personally I find sugar and bread are my absolute worst enemies for bloating. Belly and face for me. So maybe knock those on the head.
We shouldn't bloody feel self conscious at our age but idk about you, I feel like I've morphed into a different body overnight. So I sympathise

panickingforgoodreason · 29/03/2022 10:48

Thanks a million.
Great advice and appreciated.
I'm thinking about a hair accessory. My hair will be down and brought to one side and wavy . It's about six inches from
My shoulders. Was thinking of a clip or some such thing. No hats or hair pieces for me.
Also any ideas for statement earrings please ?

Love the dress where is it from? Sounds like you've got it covered Op eat grapefruit to rid bloating and/or grapefruit essential oil few drops in bath. Love the sound of a hair clip/ earrings post them if you sort some. Try and relax and enjoy it....
