Help! Haven’t worn a dress for ages and…

I am going to a wedding in June. I am 61, 5ft 9 inches and a size 16. Reasonable top half of body but legs not great - think big calves and cankles. V necks suit me best - either sleeveless or short/mid length sleeves, definitely not cap. Colours - orange, purple, green, navy all suit me. It’s a country wedding but will probably be quite smart. Budget is up to £200 but it would be good if I could get shoes with that too ( and while we’re on the subject, shoes?!? For size 8/9 feet). Aargh!

I have the same issues, hate my legs, s16, wide shoulders and if not careful I look like a rugby player. What shape are you looking for, shift, a line, skater?

Jumpingintomenopause · 27/03/2022 20:57

Would you consider a jumpsuit?

I have similar issues, my ankles are dreadful. I don't wear skirts or dresses now because of them, so would suggest trousers or a jumpsuit as per pp. If going with a skirt, I'd say wear heels, even if only slight to minimise the cankle situation.

I don’t know! Shift probably best unless the low carb works miracles on my waist before then.

I’ve never worn one but yes, definitely

Yes a jumpsuit would be cool for your shape

LaBelleSauvage123 · 27/03/2022 22:48

Wide leg trousers don’t look great on me so is there such a thing as a jumpsuits without wide legs?

Yeah … have a look at Boden

Actually, there's a fab jumpsuit new in M&S that would potentially be cool for a wedding, although I am guessing it might be a bit marmite. This is the one I was thinking of as it looked good on the rack and I hadn't seen it before. It might go against the wide leg problem, though - it's not quite how it was in my head!
