Cheapo products that are secretly amazing?

Following on from the Nivea soft thread (under £5 on Amazon)...what other hidden treasures are there that I don't know about?

I've found carmex original lip balm in a tub to be amazing. Costs under £3

L'Oreal dream lengths shampoo/conditioner has really sorted my hair out. On offer it was £2.75 for 500ml.

Garnier hand repair hand cream 75ml is so good, cost £2 from Amazon

Garnier hair food, I think I have the brown one with macadamia oil. £3.50 for 500ml

Sudocrem for acne and sunburn, recently bought 400g for £5.75

Any other suggestions?

Primark not primary.

Sunshineandrainbow · 28/03/2022 20:27

[quote ArabeI]@Geomi could you possibly link to an example of the flannels, please? I like the sound of those.

We get them from primark.

gulliblestravels · 28/03/2022 21:36

@Gonnagetgoing

Ordered! TYSM Smile

LightOfAThousandStars · 28/03/2022 22:53

The Ordinary foundations, I have neutral undertones and get a great colour match in these plus they don't feel heavy on my face. Better than the high end ones I was using before.

MrsPetty · 29/03/2022 01:21

Aldi Caviar day and night cream

ArabeI · 29/03/2022 10:36

Thanks @Sunshineandrainbow

NeverChange · 03/04/2022 20:56

The Ordinary products are brilliant and reasonably priced. Have switched from Clarins. Saved a fortune & think they are better.

NellesVilla · 03/04/2022 21:46

Loving some of these fabulous suggestions, particularly for my dry skin and hair.

Would like to offer: poundland eye and lip pencils, Primark eyeshadow (dupe of TooFaced), and foundation (didn’t like at first, but is absolutely fine). And Lidl perfumes, such as Chalou and Elle.

MissMarpleRocks · 03/04/2022 21:58

Great thread. Anyone know of a good substitute for Espa facial products please? Need to find more reasonable priced alternatives.

I’ve just ordered the fibrology shampoo so will report back.

Can’t pay what VB wants for her olive kohl liner. Anything come near. Thanks.

Avon Glimmerstix. Seriously.
Ohchristmastreeohchristmastree · 04/04/2022 08:18

Vaseline Rosy Lips - I have 5 pots dotted around the house/car. I think I bought the last pot for £1.29.

Tresseme Smooth and Silky conditioner. Amazing stuff, cheap.

Elf Eyebrow pencils and eyeliner.

Hydraluminous - I get it cheaper on eBay than in Boots.

Thank you, much more affordable will give it a go. X

They're great, the pigment is fabulous and they are lovely windy uppy ones like more expensive liners. I have them in loads of different colours.

CoralPaperweight · 04/04/2022 10:29

Echo the Blistex Lip Creams although I like the Intensive Moisture one with SPF (1.78 in Superdrug at the moment) over the relief cream (better in winter).

Despite having really sensitive skin, the Aldi Lacura range works really well for me

Purpleavocado · 04/04/2022 16:41

Most of the Avon perfumes are good. I love the Today one, it smells like a spa, so I stock up when they are having a deal.
One of my best ever perfumes was their Incandessence Lumiere, which smells wonderful. Unfortunately they discontinued it and now it goes for silly money on ebay.

Chewchewaboogie · 04/04/2022 16:55

meifly would it be ok to ask you about a cple of products please?.
I use
Sunday riley good genes
Charlotte tilbury.magic cream
Sunday riley luna oil
I know that.my skin is really fresh amd glowly with these products and in my 50s i get complements.
Do you happen to kmow if they are worth it( 200 for all 3 or more!) Or are there cheaper versions in yr view? Thanks !!!

Horaceandgus · 04/04/2022 17:37

Schwarzkopt supersoft hairspray in extra strong hold 3
I have to use hairspray on my fringe at work and it’s the only one that doesn’t turn my hair into one solid block but stops my sweat from turning it into a mess
I got it from b&m

Aussie shampoo-the peach one is the tits-normally on offer 3 for £10

Carmex lip balm in cherry/vanilla/strawberry really helps my chapped lips

Wilkos nail polish is the only one that doesn’t chip

Wilkos mascara (black and green tube) is the only one that gives me lashes, doesn’t budge but washes off with a flannel

Qwaffee · 04/04/2022 17:50

L’Oreal Glow Cherie is supposed to be very similar to CT flawless filter - it’s about £5 and gives your face a lovely glow.
I’m trying Neutrogena hydro boost as a replacement for Clinique moisture surge - hoping it’s just as good as it’s a third of the price.
I also add water to shampoo and conditioner bottles once they are half full - a good shake and you have a full bottle again with not any difference in the product. I also do this with cleaning products a specially fabric softener which you can dilute loads. Anything to stretch them out!

LadyOfTheCanyon · 04/04/2022 18:07

You'd have to prise my Flawless filter out of my cold dead hands so I'm certainly going to give the L'Oreal one a go for a fiver. Thanks for the tip!

The e.l.f eye crayons are a good dupe for by Terry ombré blackstar. Although they have stopped doing the excellent mid brown that I used.Angry

elephantbreathing · 05/04/2022 06:27

Baby oil for removing mascara and great in the shower for moisturizing skin.

Imabouttoexplode · 05/04/2022 06:47

@Coniferhedge

I have really fine hair and over the years have spent a fortune on hair products to try to make it look thicker such as Redken, Kerastase and Grow Gorgeous. Best thing I’ve found is L’Oreal Elvive Fibrology shampoo and conditioner at about £2 a bottle from most supermarkets. Brilliant stuff.
Totally agree. Fibrology is absolutely the best thickening shampoo for sure!

The ordinary is very hit n miss. You have to chose carefully and know what you're looking at.
deadlanguage · 05/04/2022 10:00

@Imabouttoexplode is there anything from the ordinary you would particularly recommend/avoid? I’ve got the squalane and was thinking of trying a few other products

LadyEloise1 · 05/04/2022 11:16

Essence I Need A Miracle mascara.
It apparently has a hint of eye lash tint in it. I'm not sure about that but it's a really good mascara.
Palmers COCONUT hand cream.
It smells gorgeous and works really well and is very cheap.

I hate the smell of Palmers Cocoa Butter.
