I am in my early 50s, on HRT, and I thought initially that my hair breaking at the hairline was related to this, but having done some research, I wonder if it's more to do with my hair styling.
When I feel my hairline with the tips of my fingers it feels spiky, so I can literally feel the broken hair, more on side side than the other, but definitely across my forehead, not just a tiny area.
I wash my hair every day. I know this is probably far from ideal but honestly, my hair is my only decent feature and the one thing that makes me feel put together. I towel dry it until it is 80% dry and then use a good quality barrel brush and Parlux hairdryer to finish it off, straight. If I don't do that, my hair dries frizzy and shapeless. Honestly not nice at all. I then use cloud 9 straightening irons because if I don't, my hair absorbs the slightest bit of moisture as soon as I go out, and it looks really crappy. I always use Kerastase thermal spray before drying my hair.
I get it highlighted 3 times a year. I use top end products like Kerastase, Phillip Kingsley and Olaplex.
I will try to go easy on the irons, for example on weekends. I have also been towel drying my hair in a turban by putting my head upside down and tightening the turban like that, it gives it a tiny bit more volume as it dries. I wonder if this has cause the hair to break.
So I am going to try and go easy on the above, but I wonder if any of you have also experienced this and what has helped. I have had blood taken recently for other issues and apart from Vitamin D which is low and I am taking supplements for, there's nothing obviously lacking.
Thank you all.
