I have a few on my leg, at least I think they are thread veins (see pic)? What causes them and is there anything that can be done?

Scelerotherapy (sp?). I had it at the McIndoe Centre.

MistySkiesAfterRain · 24/03/2022 23:23

It causes bruising so you get it done in October to be ready for Summer. The vein breaks down and reabsorbs.

Thanks, anyone else got input please?

I had mine lasered and it didn’t make a difference. I would go with sclerotherapy if your considering treatment

threecee · 28/03/2022 19:49

i had sclerotherapy and it made them worse. i avoid dresses now for that reason.

imstilljenny2 · 28/03/2022 19:55

You probably don't want to hear this but I've had both sclerotherapy and laser treatment. Sclerotherapy made it worse in some parts and laser treatment didn't work. I now just use Sally Hansen leg make up if I'm wearing a skirt.

Dingdong99 · 28/03/2022 19:56

Schlerotherapy! I have it every year or other year, as I get more and more

It does work for me

Stumpedasatree · 28/03/2022 21:50

Oh no - sounds like the results are variable! How much is sclerotherapy?

Oh I have these. What causes them? I am sure I got them after pregnancy.
Will my plasma pen work on them or are they too deep?

cessie322 · 28/03/2022 22:37

I was left with permanent bruising after schlerotherapy, the areas looked worse afterwards and the laser didn’t work at all. I’ve just given up now.

A few hundred? That was a while back.

For those that say they had permanent bruising I am interested to know more. How long ago was it done? I had one wiggly vein on my shin that I had done that took I would say 3 or 4 years to completelty reabsorb after it was done. Maybe it was because it was on the bone, or a different type to the spiders web ones.

The spiders web ones on my fleshy inner calf absorbed over 6 months or so. They have come back though. I am thinking of going back but need to find out more as am now on medication that as a side effect can affect blood clotting. Need to find out if that affects healing time.

I would say mine were apparently not the worst they had seen.

You have to wear compression stockings for quite a while afterwards although she said not to bother in my case as they were not that bad.

Interested to read about alternatives.
