Melasma moustache

I developed a melasma moustache in my pregnancy in 2020. It faded a lot through the winter and I thought I would be rid of it however the last two days of sun has brought it out already and now I feel rather upset about the summer.
It's on my top lip and between my eyebrows. I am white skinned but tan very well and I have black brown hair naturally.
The melasma patches just make me look very hairy, the top lip makes it look as if I've had bad lip fillers and they are sticking out and it's a shadow. I've had comments on this last summer and just dreading it again, makeup didn't cover it last year and I don't often wear makeup.
I spoke to GP last year who didn't really have any options for me.
I am using SPF 50 but hasn't stopped it popping straight up. I use vitamin C, niacinamide.
Does anyone have anything that has actually worked on melasma?

I had a prescription for melasma from Dermatica. It contained hydroquinone and tretinoin - it worked really well.

I have this around the top of my cheekbones below my eyes. I have been asked if I’ve been punched before, and (when the children were babies) whether they’d accidentally butted me. I was so embarrassed that I said yes to the latter Sad

REN does a dark spot corrector that I tried once for a few weeks and it did help. I also use sun protection toon religiously now as it does get darker in the summer.

I had the same problem and also went with dermatica prescription, nothing else I tried worked, including the REN dark spot night cream. It's definitely worked but has removed most of my freckles too! I find a mineral spf better at preventing reoccurrence too, currently using REN mineral spf 50, bought from tk maxx at half usual price.

Thank you all. I'll look at the Dermatica.
I have a small patch developing on my cheekbone too.
