Best white trainers?

I’m very late to the party on with this one but I want to buy some white trainers. Which brands are cool? I’ve no idea. I looked briefly today and they all seemed to have huge chunky soles which seemed a bit too trendy for a 40-something woman. Is there something out there that’s trendy but not too try-hard?

I know stan smiths are everyone's favourite but I am sick of seeing them. I prefer the lacoste laronde.

I love the look of veja's but they are not comfortable for me.

SueGray · 25/03/2022 10:53

Vejas were the worst trainers I’ve ever tried. A previous poster commented that the discomfort may have been related to her wide feet but I have skinny feet and they were awful!!! I had to admit defeat and sell them. I replaced them with Adidas Stan Smiths which were comfortable from the first wear.

I seem to be in a minority of one when it comes to Vejas. I have two pairs of Campo and they are like slippers!

AvonCallingBarksdale · 25/03/2022 13:45

IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble what are your feet like, if I may ask? Mine are on the wider side and based on a lot of these responses, Vejas would be no good for me.

You may...size 5 and decidedly average I think. Not wide, never buy a wide fit shoe but have had squashed toes in some converse.

Every single pair of shoes or trainers i buy hurt my feet at some stage. I wonder if different Veja styles fit differently, I've never had any issues with the Campo.

Jumping on this thread as I'm looking for new white trainers and am 40 something!
I've previously had Converse then Super Ga's (both fabric as opposed to leather) but am thinking of leather ones next...
I have wide feet - would Veja ones suit? Or Stan Smith's??
To wear with skinny jeans (though I think these are out of fashion now so maybe I need new jeans too...!?!)..

Itsabeautifuldaytosavelives123 · 09/04/2022 22:29

Fairfax and Favor Alexandras, mentioned earlier in the thread, wear out a lot faster than Vegas. I like my Vegas, they're hard wearing and look good with a dress because of their low profile, as well as jeans.

Stan Smiths. Vouchercode has 30% off the adidas website at the moment. I've just ordered a second pair, they are supremely comfortable.

JustAnotherDayWorkingAtHome · 10/04/2022 08:15

Air and Grace super comfy and they are all lovely

FuggyPidding · 10/04/2022 20:19

Stan Smiths are looking like a front runner.
Tried on some Adidas Gazelles today - love the look but they just didn't feel comfortable.
Looked at some Adidas Hoops too... and some Nike ones.
There does seem to be quite a bit of choice when it comes to white trainers!

Blossomtoes · 10/04/2022 20:40

Adidas Sleek are a bit dressier than most. I had to go up a half size.

HamCob · 10/04/2022 21:39

Nike Air Force ones - very comfy 👍

ladygindiva · 10/04/2022 21:43

I've just got some white nike air force 1, I love them so much it hurts. They're so wonderful 💞

ladygindiva · 10/04/2022 21:46

To pp with wide feet, I also have very wide feet and my air force ones are a great fit.

thesnaleandthewhail · 10/04/2022 21:48

I have some white leather trainers from John Lewis own brand that have lasted me ages and look good - a bit less casual than Stan smiths which I also have and love

TaysideTeuchter · 11/04/2022 18:03

PPs recommending Nike Air Force Ones - did you have to go up a size? I normally wear a size 6 or 6.5 depending on the brand. TIA

Snoopsnoggysnog · 11/04/2022 19:34

I love my AF1s too. They are sooo comfy. The thick soles mean you can walk all day in them. I didn’t go up a size no. I wear a UK6.

LeopardInTraining · 11/04/2022 20:11

I got Sargasso & Grey trainers, for me they are comfy for longer walks as well.

HabitsDieHard · 11/04/2022 20:19

are lacoste lerond any good? Are they comfortable? Fashionable?

melissasummerfield · 11/04/2022 20:24

I also love superga ( I wear metallic leather ones ) and air and grace but they v. expensive!

TaysideTeuchter · 11/04/2022 20:24

Thank you. Smile
Germolenequeen · 11/04/2022 20:28

I have Superga in leather and canvas & find the leather far more comfortable

Snoopsnoggysnog · 11/04/2022 21:17

I also have supergas in white canvas, but I’ve got my eye on white converse for this summer

No, they are true to size. I wear a 4.5 if shoe is wide fitting( I have v wide feet) and sometimes a 5 if on slim side, my af1s are 4.5 and a perfect fit.
Benjispruce4 · 12/04/2022 15:44

I love my Veja trainers.
