Smelly costume jewellery! Help!

My costume jewellery ends up smelling like onions due to oxidisation which I always thought was because they are so old.
I have a new necklace I have only worn once - tried it on again today and it smells so bad even when I take it off I can still smell it on me.

Has anyone got any tips for this? Would talc help?

Try dipping it in a mixture of white vinegar and water then dry with a soft cloth.

Try to avoid wearing the jewellery on areas with perfume on your skin as that’s probably the cause.

If it’s oxidised you and dip in lemon juice mixed with water and again dry with a soft cloth.

There doesn't seem to be a product safe to use on costume jewellery.
