Mascara that doesn't look like mascara?

I'm after a super-natural mascara - one that will add a bit of definition to my lashes but that won't actually look like I'm wearing mascara. I think I've used a Benefit lash primer in the past for this maybe? (not one of those white primers, obviously!).

Has anyone got any recommendations?

Benefit do a brown eyelash primer which can be worn on its own. Clinique Naturally Glossy mascara is also good for a natural look and comes in brown or black.

Clear mascara

I used to use the brown benefit lash primer which is very natural but it felt like a lot of money to spend on a product that looked so natural, if that makes sense?! I decided to try a cheap brown/black mascara and have found found rimmed super large to be very effective. As long as you apply it sparingly it gives a similar eclffect the the benefit primer but costs less than a fiver from amazon.

ah yes, so it was the Benefit primer i'd used before - I wasn't imaging it! But yes, it's pricey - would like a dupe of that ideally. I just want to avoid anything that looks fiber-y/at all spiderey, if that makes any sense.

I will check out all these suggestions, thank you!

Glossier tubing one is very natural.

Or how about getting your lashes tinted instead?

LabelMaker · 23/03/2022 17:18

Clear mascara.

Lavera mascaras leave lashes still quite soft so looks pretty natural.

Clear mascara or Estée Lauder little black primer

This. It's great.

Second Glossier tubing or Boots No7 do one as well. Definitely not spidery and tubing doesn’t smudge.

Gonnagetgoing · 26/03/2022 11:37

@VerityPJohnson - I wasn’t wowed by the glossier tubing at first (used to more flamboyant mascara lashes!) but I really like it now and reach for it more!

Gonnagetgoing · 26/03/2022 11:37

Whenever I got lashes tinted in the past it’s great but I couldn’t do a more dramatic look with mascara.

I think the trend now is for very thick, nearly false eyelash looking lashes and so most of the mascara formulations are quite heavy. I tried Max factor 2000 calories but then found it too heavy so I use Benefit lash primer, brushing the lashes carefully with a washed out wand from a previous mascara to stop the lashes clumping. When I was in France I bought La Roche Posay brown mascara which is also good, I could only find black here which is too harsh on me.

I use No7 stay perfect tubing mascara (in the gold tube) that just adds the teeniest bit of definition to my eyes, the current falsies look is really not good for me.

It's the only mascara I have ever repurchased multiple times, was recommended on here
