Period swimwear - shorts style?

Pre-teen dd is probably around a size 6-8. She’d like to try period-proof swimwear but has specifically requested shorts style bottoms. I’ve had a trawl around everything Google can throw at me (and they are all now following me all over the internet…) and can find lots of bikini bottoms but no shorts. Has anyone seen any anywhere, please??

As far as I can find out, only ModiBodi do period swimwear in the UK at the mo, and they only have bikini bottom style.

You might have more luck with one of the US manufacturers, some of them ship to the UK.

Why not get her a pair of board shorts, and she can wear a pair of period bikini bottoms under them? I started wearing board shorts (with a tankini) all the time for swimming about 6 years ago and would never go back to a costume. Plus - pockets!

My dd wears the bikini bottom ones under a boy leg swim suit. It works really well and she feels very secure.

Ah thanks - bikinis under board shorts or boy leg suit is a good shout. Glad to hear it works for your dd, Butemily. Does she have the modibodi ones? It’s a whole new world since I was that age!

I have the modi bodi bikini bottoms. They definitely work for most, if not all, period days, although I like them so much I wear them when I don't have my period too. Mine have a high waist and pretty good coverage. They feel very secure.

My DD swims competitively and wears the Modibodi bikini bottoms under both regular and legsuits. She is v happy with them and says they are comfortable. She's a size 8-10 and wears the teen size 14-16yrs.

Thanks all! Suggested this to DD and we're going to give it a go. She reminded me she has a tankini set with shorts from last summer so will try with those over the top.
