Nightmare bikini line

Nateismine · 21/03/2022 13:17

I'm looking for solidarity, sympathy and solutions.

From a teen I was 'blessed' with an excessive amount or pubic hair. I have never managed a solution.

Shaving- get regrowth within 12 hours and gets very spikey/itchy.
Sugaring/waxing- only lasts 4 days before regrowth and then get 2 weeks of ingrowing hair annoyance so hardly seems worth the effort.
Creams- as above, only a few days of smoothness.

So on holiday I only ever get to wear a normal swimsuit for 4 days before I go back to boy shorts or a leg suit.

I'm now 48 and the bikini line reaches 5 inches down my thighs. Also really hairy between my bum cheeks and have no idea what to do with this. Also, attractively, half my pubes are grey so I guess I've missed the boat on laser treatment.

Ideally I'm looking for the solution but I fear there isn't one. So please comfort me with your own nightmare bikini line stories so I don't deal so freaky.

Philips Lumea! I did mine in a neat triangle and it’s never grown back.

Theredjellybean · 21/03/2022 21:14

I have very strong thick public hairs to mid way down inner thigh and around anus
I have religiously waxed every four weeks and it has been manageable.
I have hardly any leg hair regrowth from this regime but bastsrding pubes keep growing back.
However they are finer, it hurts much less, I get bumpy red spots after waxing that receded after 24hrs.
I always apply after care, never go near hot shower, hot tubs etc until 3-4 days post wax.
It works but you have to keep going

Andacherryonthetop · 21/03/2022 21:14

I have the exact same issue! I bought a Philips lumea and have so far used it twice. Oh my god it’s brilliant. The hairs that went all down my inner thigh have vanished! The bikini line is already less (although still needing a daily shave!) the bum area is quite the challenge but I’m hoping it works there too! I’m delighted with it so far thank god because it cost a fortune. I have no greys yet and have dark hair and pale skin which helps I think

Time40 · 21/03/2022 21:17

Honestly OP, no one looks. No one cares. I have no idea why so many women think this is any sort of issue. Just forget about it. Wear the swimming costume you want to wear and stop worrying. Truly.

It makes me really angry that so many women feel that they have to bother about this non-issue. We've all got more important things to spend our time on.

Ginger153 · 21/03/2022 21:22

Just stopping in to recommend Woo Woo hair removal cream. I started using it due to lockdowns and not being able to get waxed. It's the only kind I've used where I get no irritation at all even in the most sensitive places. Leave it on for 5-6 mins and then scrub off in shower. Doesn't smell bad either. Perfectly manageable for holiday top ups.

Waxing really is best solution if you can't do laser. Wear a thong to the appointment and they'll just wax round that.

Woo Woo is a brilliant alternative someone recommended on here. I share your frustrations!

BobblyBlueJumper · 21/03/2022 21:22

Lumea.

It has got rid of the 'thigh beard' very well.

Not so great on the bikini line area, those are a bit more stubborn but the hair is definitely finer and grows more slowly.

Not tried on my hairy bum crack, I'm not sure I can be bothered with the faff.

SummerSazz · 21/03/2022 21:24

@dotdotdotdash

Another epilator fan! Don't you find it's not too painful though *@SummerSazz* if you use it regularly?
I've used it for years on my legs (not particularly regularly as they aren't too hairy after 30 years of waxing!). Then moved onto armpits which I thought would be hell and was fine so thought I'd head downwards 😁. Only do it a few times a year as I'm singe so mainly for swimming/holiday!
imisscashmere · 21/03/2022 21:24

Laser, laser, laser. You will not regret it!

morninginging · 21/03/2022 21:27

I was you. I had mine lasered at 48! God I wished I'd done it 30 years earlier.

I didnt have it all off, but in retrospect wish I'd kept a bit more than the strip I have. I genuinely didnt do it for a man (it's not done, ahem, underneath), I did it because I swim and I'd been mortified for years at having horrific rashes whether I shaved or waxed. Awful. And it was... quite down my thighs.

6 sessions and done. Have to occasionally pull a few out but it's really nothing.

SquirrelFan · 21/03/2022 21:29

... Why are people waxing their bums? Is this a common thing?

HelenWick · 21/03/2022 21:33

I have an Iranian woman who is the kindest and nicest person in the world and she comes to my house and just deals with the whole situation!!! She also does my brows and my eyelash tint at the same time. During covid I was just like a bush monster :(

HelenWick · 21/03/2022 21:35

Can anyone give me a rough idea of what they paid for lasering or do the home kits work well? I have been quote £1500 for 6 treatments - I am worried I would need more :(

Anansiskunk · 21/03/2022 21:41

I used to feel like this. I never shave or wax now. Not even my armpits. Not for everyone but I honestly don't care anymore!

Changeee15467 · 21/03/2022 21:44

Not RTWT but you can still laser the hairs that aren't grey yet? Laser is amazing, all of my hair just fell out. That would make dealing with the greys much easier - and greys obviously far less noticeable too?

bluejelly · 21/03/2022 21:49

I think deciding not to care is by far the best option. Free, painless and easy. Who decided that we had to be bald in our nether regions?

NewmummyJ · 21/03/2022 21:53

Laser. Get it done somewhere decent, it will be expensive but so so worth it (talking from experience). Literally changed my life! Saves you so much time and faff in the long run

loopycurtains · 21/03/2022 21:58

Well, yes, if you have a hairy crack! (Speaks from experience)!
easterdaffsx · 21/03/2022 21:58

Similar issues here and 51.
I have just discovered spray on veet .
I lie on a towel / mirror to hand / and spray everywhere . I mean everywhere .
Lock the door
Legs akimbo
Wait 10 mins and use the spatula to remove, then shower .
It really worked for me .

loopycurtains · 21/03/2022 22:00

I think lots of PP recommending laser and lumea are missing the bit about OP's grey hair... it doesn't work on grey hair.
The only other permanent solution that is a bit old-fashioned but hasn't been mentioned yet is electrolysis. I had some years ago and it worked brilliantly.

SquirrelFan · 21/03/2022 22:07

@loopycurtains I'm the hairiest person I know but it would never occur to me to remove hair from such a sensitive area! The pain! The risk of reacting to chemicals, waxing or laser! As no one sees it, I figured it didn't matter. But is it the done thing?

Ohsugarhoneyicetea · 21/03/2022 22:08

Philips Lumea, I was like this and now barely anything grows there, its quite amazing.

loopycurtains · 21/03/2022 22:09

Ooh I don't know if it's the done thing. I only know that I did it for years (waxing). And then I lumea-ed it. Not going to lie, damn painful but at least I no longer have a fuzzy a-holeGrin

MsItchy · 21/03/2022 22:09

I'm the same, bane of my life. I would usually refuse to be in a bikini/swimsuit around people purely because of the damn hair. Mine is light in colour but quite wiry and thick, I think there's more than one hair per follicle. Waxing is very painful so I've only done that tidy up, not anything more! a handful of times and DH gets treated to my lazy shaving skills otherwise, so there's usually quite a lot remaining, I hate it.

Anansiskunk · 21/03/2022 22:11

I still wear a bikini and I have hair. Even up my belly. I don't know what it was to trigger me not to care but I'm so fed up of women being embarrassed by hair. I find it so upsetting. I have no issue at all with women removing their pubes, armpit hair etc but the fact that we feel so much embarrassment about it when we do have it is so sad. Society has really messed up here.

Flowerbedflora · 21/03/2022 22:11

I use Hollywood Browzer
