I do a lot of walking with my dog and it's nearly time to hang up my winter dog walking coat. I am looking for something that is shower proof, covers my backside, lightweight for summer and isn't a cagoule as I hate when I get warm and they stick to my arms. I would like it too be not too middle aged dog walker if possible (that's what I am but I would like to look a little differentGrin ) I usually wear slightly alternative clothing, I know it doesn't really matter when walking the dog but if I could find something I like that is also practical that would be great.

Protected species do some really great coats.

Trouble is, if it is to keep water out, it will also keep it in , unless you start paying out ££ for specialist outdoor gear (as opposed to 'Style and Beauty' options.
I think you have to decide which is more important.

I've a seasalt Mac that I bought on sale it has a cottony feel outer, its cool and non sweaty during summer showers so I assume others in their range will be similar. It's totally dry in a downpour but I've not tested during a long torrential rain walk as the dogs refuse to leave the house if it's horrible out.

Think it's this one I have

I really like my Uniqlo blochtech coat

Very lightweight and not too cagoule like.

Have a look at Ilse Jacobsen. I have 3/4 jacket and love it. Great zipped pockets and it has a waist rather than being straight. www.ilsejacobsen.com/dk/en/outerwear/rainwear/rain-coats/

For light summer type rain I just wear something that will dry quickly, like running kit. All jackets are too warm if you're active when it's warm out.
