Do you wear eyeshadow?

I’ve been wearing the same make-up more or less for years and years which includes dark brown eyeshadow on the upper and lower lid. I went to the hairdressers last week and all the staff (young) had strong eyebrows, curled eyelashes and eyeliner with no eyeshadow.

I think I am wearing a very dated look but I am in my 50s so I think I need a lighter version of that style. Any tips?

I am also in my fifties and I'm not wearing eyeliner or eyeshadow. I do wear mascara sometimes. I don't curl my lashes.

I have thin eyebrows (they are sparse due to over-plucking in the 80's ! -dates me) so can't have strong brows but sometimes I use a Benefit brow brush/wand thing to fill them in. It's a more natural brow but enhanced compared to my normal weedy brows.

I have a quad palette of highlighters and sometimes I'll apply one of them to my upper lids only. It's a slightly shimmery nude-flesh colour just to give a hint of sparkle but not enough to sit in the wrinkles or crepey bits and doesn't look colourful.

I think less is more with makeup at our age. Thick eyeliner tends make eyes look smaller I think.

I have overplucked eyebrows too and I try to fill them in but they look quite harsh. I think I should try less is more. I have always worn strong eye make up even if I’m not wearing lipstick or foundation as it used to suit me but it’s not the trend any more.
