Dress for mum’s funeral

My mum died last week, and she was someone who loved colour. I don’t think I ever saw her in black. I therefore want to wear colour foe her funeral. Do you think something like this could work? queensofarchive.com/collections/long-dresses/products/angie-electric-floral

Sorry for your loss. It's a lovely dress and you know what she would have liked.

PinkPeaceLily · 18/03/2022 19:20

Beautiful dress. You know what your mum would've thought, so go with your gut xx

justforthisnow · 18/03/2022 19:23

I am so sorry for your loss, and if that is what your mum would have liked then why not. May she rest in peace.

A beautiful dress , wear it 💐
I wore a floral dress to my Dads funeral , as he loved trees , nature and gardening and would always be outside if he could be

PollyIndia · 18/03/2022 19:36

She would have loved that dress.. my only thing is whether it is bright enough. She had purple hair and even the vicar said to me earlier today how colourful she was…
Thank you for your kind words. Flowers sounds lovely h1drangea

I'm sorry you lost your Mum. It's a beautiful dress.

RainbowMum11 · 18/03/2022 21:28

I think it's a beautiful dress xx
We wore navy & patterned dresses for my step dad's funeral as he didn't do black at all.

Teadrinker11 · 18/03/2022 21:28

I'm very sorry for your loss. If your mum loved it I think it would be a beautiful touch to wear it and it will bring you comfort as well.

ScribblingPixie · 18/03/2022 21:31

I'm very sorry for your loss, OP. The dress is lovely. I wore an outfit to my Mum's funeral that I knew she thought looked good, although it wasn't black, and I feel happy about the choice looking back.

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 18/03/2022 21:33

Sorry for your loss. That dress is beautiful, if your mum would have loved it wear it for the funeral and afterwards when you want to focus on thinking about her.

Not quite the same but I wore the same sort of colours to my Nana's funeral as I knew she would have loved that and then leopard print court shoes to my granddads, he would have laughed at that! DaffodilDaffodil

So sorry for your letter as. That is a beautiful dress and you will know she would have loved it too when you wear it. Are you letting everyone else know to wear colours too?

waltzingparrot · 18/03/2022 22:55
  • So sorry for your loss....
Heartbeat3 · 18/03/2022 23:03

Yes xx

Purpleavocado · 19/03/2022 10:41

So sorry for your loss Flowers that's a lovey dress

PollyIndia · 19/03/2022 12:49

waltzingparrot, we were going to say people are welcome to wear whatever feels right for them, but colour is welcomed as mum was such a colourful person.
How does that sound?
Am also looking at this dress with a top underneath (because backless)

Or even a suit? I saw a pale lime green one in river island maybe with pink underneath. I just want to feel like I am celebrating her in what I wear. She loved a bright suit - wore a hot pink one to her 60th birthday.

Scribblingpixie, sorry you lost your mum too.
And yes re leopard print and the folder generation ranoutofquinoaandprosecco... I think of leopard as a neutral but it definitely wasn't always!

Oh I absolutely love that first dress, it’s fabulous and makes me think your Mum must have been a bubbly person to know. I’m so sorry for your loss. I think the dress would be a great tribute, I’d love to think somebody thought that kind of pattern reflected my personality!

Personally I’d go with the first not second, just to avoid the need to cover up the back. You want to feel 100% comfortable on the day.

gogohm · 19/03/2022 13:04

Wear what your mum would have loved to see you in. Tell others to wear colour too if you like. So sorry for your loss

Yes, that wording is good. I'd wear colour if I received that.

I think the first dress is lovely. That second dress, although colourful, might be trickier with a split that high.
