Too bridal?

Do you think the combination of very pale green/could just be ivory in the wrong light, tiny buttons, and satiny viscose would make this inappropriate as a wedding guest outfit?

I’m looking for something for my cousin’s early summer wedding. Haven’t seen everyone since I had DC2 and whilst I’d love to look great and have a little ‘wow’ moment, don’t want to look like I’m trying to detract from the bride! (Plan is to hire something lovely and then buy some lovely accessories that I might actually reuse)

Yes I think it would look daft

There are nicer dresses out there

thebellsesmereldathebells · 18/03/2022 12:52

It's too pale, and it looks like a nightie

Pyri · 18/03/2022 12:52

That is absolutely beautiful, would look amazing on the right figure and lighting etc.

However, I think it’s a little inappropriate for a wedding dress. It’s a bit too revealing - you couldn’t wear a bra meaning nips likely on show. It’s also very bridesmaidy and does look a bit bridal - very Grace Loves Lace.

I’d go for something else tbh, beautiful as it is

BellatrixOnABadDay · 18/03/2022 12:53

It does look a lot like a nightie...

MyHusbandTheIdiot · 18/03/2022 12:55

Yes, sorry, could definitely look bridal particularly in the wrong light - see some of the later pics on the listing for example. And I never think that things that people post on these threads are too bridal!

MrsMoastyToasty · 18/03/2022 12:57

It looks like a nightdress.

Clymene · 18/03/2022 13:00

There is literally a photo of someone wearing it as their wedding dress! You will absolutely look like you're trying to upstate the bride.

And it looks like a nightie.

Patterned is safer as a guest, then no one is going to mistake you for a bridesmaid either.

SirChenjins · 18/03/2022 13:09

It’s too nightie looking for a wedding. Those dresses that @Violetmo0n has linked too are much nicer/more appropriate.

WorkEvent · 18/03/2022 13:10

Hmm yeah, I suspected as much. Back to the drawing board!

Where do we stand on this? I love a bias cut! For reference I’m dark blonde, short hair, 5’6, small waist, all bum and boobs, have a bit of weight to shift but am currently marathon training so fairly confident it will be gone in the next couple of months.

That Lipsy dress is lovely.

RosesAndHellebores · 18/03/2022 13:12

It looks like a slip. People will think you have forgotten to put your frock on. I don't like the others much either. If it's a church wedding you will need something to cover your shoulders.

RosesAndHellebores · 18/03/2022 13:13

The last one looks like a bridesmaid's dress.

ChristmasAtHogwarts · 18/03/2022 13:13

The green one is lovely!
I love that colour and think it would suit you too.

PragmaticWench · 18/03/2022 13:13

The Rat & Boa green is fab as you're curvy!

DariaMorgendorffer · 18/03/2022 13:15

The rat & boa is gorgeous.

LizDoingTheCanCan · 18/03/2022 13:17

The green one makes the tiny model look big, plus it's quite dated.

Is it a very formal wedding?

Clymene · 18/03/2022 13:18

That is an evening dress and will look weird at a daytime wedding unless you're a bridesmaid.

Is it a church wedding?

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 18/03/2022 13:18

The first one is beautiful but you can’t wear it to a wedding. It’s a date dress.

2nd is horrible. Looks cheap. Not a fan of shiny polyester at all.

maddy68 · 18/03/2022 13:18

It's a no from me

NaomhPadraigin · 18/03/2022 13:19

First dress is terrible, looks like you forgot to put your clothes on and went out in your nightie.
Second one is nice, if that style suits your shape.

NeverChange · 18/03/2022 13:28

I don't like either of them but the second one is marginally better than the first.

The first dress @Violetmo0n posted is fabulous.

NeedleNoodle3 · 18/03/2022 13:34

The second one is definitely a bit better. The first one is terrible.

QuantumHypothesis · 18/03/2022 14:29

@LizDoingTheCanCan

The green one makes the tiny model look big, plus it's quite dated.

Is it a very formal wedding?

I agree. Also, if you have a larger bust, that extra material will make you look frumpy.
GettingStuffed · 18/03/2022 20:44

I love the green one , there's a couple of actual customers wearing it and they both lol amazing
