Hair - "beachy waves" - please help me!

I've tried with loads of different gadgets to try and get my hair into beachy waves like my hairdresser does.

Over the years I've tried different tongs and straighteners, and I can never get the hang of it. Not even close.

I've just bought one of those tools where it rotates and heats the hair, so you just have to feed your hair in and it does all the work for you - no wrapping hair around tongs or irons and twisting them around.

(It's this revamp curler: https://revamphair.com/progloss-hollywood-wave-curl-advanced-automatic-curler )

And it's amazing. My hair comes out wavy, and without burnt fingers or forehead still got a scar, and the waves are all nice and even looking.

BUT I am still struggling. Sure, I can do some individual bits that look great. But I can't work out how to get my whole head done properly. I think I'm struggling with the sectioning.

How do you all do it? Do you start with the underneath of your hair, or the top layers? Do you bother doing the underneath bits of your hair at all? Do you start at the front and work back, or start at the back and work forwards?

Arghh!! If anyone can help, I'll be eternally grateful.
