I have thick long hair so need the wide plates. What's best please?

My GHD's lasted until just after the guarantee period, so personally, I don't rate them. Yes, I'm bitter. I expected better for the price tbh.

I've had two pairs of ghds! First lasted forever but were old. Second pair just broke and not that old. My sisters pair have also gone this week and they aren't that old either.
I've never tried the cloud nines so hoping they are better?

I've got Cloud Nine. I'd personally buy GHD platinum if I was buying now.

GHD original are on a par with Cloud Nine. Platinum are much better.

I need the wide plates the platinum don't come in wide

Cloud Nines. The newer GHDS don't seem to last as long as they did in the olden days.

Hmm.I have a pair of wide plate GHDs from when they 1st came out and they are still amazing.Bought some Cloud nines at Christmas for DD as I heard GHD are not so good anymore .I really don't get on with them. They don't glide through my hair like my old GHDs or straighten as well.I figure neither brands are great anymore but in my experience I'd try GHD.

I've had 3 pairs of GHD's and replaced them with Cloud Nines about 3 years ago and much prefer the Cloud Nines. I wouldn't ever go back to GHD. I have thick, wavy, Indian hair. I love that you can vary the heat on C9's and find they break my hair less, also easier to curl my hair with them as well as straighten.

I thought that Cloud Nine were actually from GHD. My hairdresser said that Cloud Nine were better, because you could adjust the temperature settings.

GHD's don't seem to last as long these days! I had my very first pair which lasted probably 8 years or so! Maybe even longer! Since then ive had a couple of pairs, I now have some Cloud 9's and I love them!

Depends what you want them for
I have long thick hair
I use the ghd wide plate for everyday calming down effect ( I don't straighten my hair as such )
And I have the thin plate cloud 9 for adding waves / curls and texture

Cloud Nine is the 'new' company of the person who originally made GHD's. They sold GHD and launched C9 a few years later, it's still independently owned as far as I'm aware.
