Removing gel polish at home

Can anyone help? I had gel nails done about 4 weeks ago , nails have now grown & the colour has started to flake off. I would make another appointment to have them redone but haven’t got time before a job interview tomorrow morning. They look terrible is there any way I can just get it off my nails ?? It’s Orly if that makes any difference. Thank you!!

I had to buy a special varnish remover from Amazon plus a tool to scrape it off and the nails underneath looked horrible after!

If you don’t have any acetone or special nail polish remover, you might struggle. Is there a 24 hour supermarket or something near you to get some?

What colour are they? Your best bet if you can’t get the remover is to paint over them. It won’t stand up to close scrutiny but from a distance across a desk it won’t be too noticeable.

It’s possible but never as good as the removal at the salon. I got a little kit from boots with extra-strength remover and pre-cut foils, but normal remover should work. Most important thing is to file the gloss layer off so the remover can penetrate all the layers.

I’ve peeled it off many a time.

I've tried the scrape off remover and it didn't work great. If you've got a similar colour nail varnish at home (or a darker one), I'd go over the existing and seal with a top coat as a quick fix

Ideally you need acetone to soak it off.

Would it be possible to disguise it for your interview? Buff the gel polish a bit, remove any loose flaky bits and paint over with a similar colour just to get you through your interview

I’ve never had to do anything more than simply peel them off, OP - is that not an option?

Thanks everyone, I think I’ll just paint over it , no one’s (hopefully 😆) going to be looking too closely at my nails!
