Sunglasses

I wear my sunglasses a lot. I've wanted a really nice pair (Ray Ban, Oakley, or similar) for a long time. DH thinks it's a bit extravagant (he's probably right) and being on maternity leave I can't justify it right now.

Can anyone recommend a decent pair of sunglasses that you love?

I tend to like them on the bigger side, but not ridiculous, and I want them to actually make it darker rather than just be for show.

If you wear them a lot the cost per wear goes down.

I can't advise because I wear (expensive) prescription sunglasses and am limited to frames that fit my small head.

See this is what I think too. DH barely wears his, they're just not that important to him, whereas I hate squinting and like wearing a decent looking pair of sunglasses. I also get a headache if I don't wear sunglasses when it's bright, so I do wear them probably more than most people whilst also trying to not look like an idiot when it's not sunglasses weather!

I wear sunglasses during daylight hours 12 months a year because I have shit eyes and get very headachey and have poor vision in sunlight even when it's not that bright. I mostly wear Ray Bans. I have a few pairs but the biggest is Jackie Ohh, might be worth a look for you.

I used to buy cheap sunglasses but they never lasted long. My Ray Bans have lasted years and still look like new.

I do also have a pair of Gucci sunglasses which I absolutely love and are probably better quality than Ray Bans but did also cost more.

Well now you're really tempting me to just go for it! Off to look at them...

I wear sunglasses a lot. I have sone from Jigsaw that I love as well as 2 pairs of Raybans- latter cost £79 for both from an outlet.

DH bought me some RayBan wayfarers for my birthday a couple of years ago. They are polarised, so brilliant for driving in the glaring sun. So comfortable too. I love them

I basically could’ve written your post, right down to being on maternity leave Grin but I’ve got a couple of pairs of Quay Australia sunglasses and while our tastes sound a bit different, I think they’d be worth a look 😊

Gnomechomsky · 14/03/2022 21:58

I wear sunglasses (prescription) 12 months of the year too.
I have RB Aviator gradients for every day and a pair of Bvlgari Fiorever just because I liked them1
I gave up buying cheap as they didn't last and I'd buy a few pairs a year, sit on them etc, I found because I spent a little more I am more careful!

ParkheadParadise · 14/03/2022 22:13

I have Jackie O sunglasses and Gucci Sunglasses I love them both.
The Gucci ones were a Birthday present from DH.

Another one for Quay Australia! Love sunglasses and have a fair few but since getting my Quay ones I haven’t had them off (also a fan of oversized but not ridiculous)

CoverYourselfInChocolateGlory · 14/03/2022 22:48

I have Rayban Wayfarer II Classics in black which are my go to casual sunglasses and also some Ralph Lauren 'Ralph' sunglasses which have a bit of gold for when I'm feeling flashy. I take pretty good care of them and they last me years so the cost per wear is pretty low.
