DePop - have I been had?

I think I’ve been had, my first DePop purchase too! Sad

I don’t want to think the worst but I bought an item 3 days ago and have had no contact, no response to a message I sent this morning either.

I bought from this person as they’d sold lots of items and have their account linked to a (what looks like) real and active Insta account. I’ve just realised now that they have no reviews even though they’ve sold lots of stuff 😭

What do you think, would you message again and then if no reply report as item not received? I don’t know what’s normal on DePop, do people just post things out with no contact, will I know when it’s posted?

Have a feeling my money is lost and this is a lesson learnt!

Did you pay with PayPal, if so then you’ll be able to claim it back. But don’t worry just yet, I find Depop is a bit more lackadaisical than other platforms. Sellers aren’t particularly quick checking sales and messages. Messier the seller again tomorrow and if you e not heard anything then start looking into claiming the money back.

Ahh yes I did, phew, ok, feeling a bit better now. I’ll message her again tomorrow and give her a day or so more to respond. Do you know how long I can wait before claiming back?

She’s obviously sold items successfully so hoping that’s the good sign it seems to be!

Depop is full of dozy teenagers - she’ll probably be in touch in a few days! But yes, PayPal will refund if you claim - it may take a while but you’ll be able to get your money back if it comes to it

I don’t get it, surely they get notified. Judging by her Insta (if it is hers) she’s roughly mid 20s! I really didn’t want this to be my first experience of DePop tbh not sure I’ll stick around now…

My son sells on de pop a lot and Hermes pick up the parcels and it can take days for them too pick up... as they are often sitting in my hallway for a week! So hopefully it's just that she's a bit snowed under

I don't think Depop is as slick as eBay with notifications etc. That, plus the generally younger demographic and the ties with Hermes means shipping can take longer. Although it's often very quick - depends on the seller.

You will be able to get a refund if nothing arrives, don't worry about it.
