Hi my husband and I have just booked a weekend in London for our silver wedding anniversary in mid May. We will be doing a fair bit of walking so want to have something comfortable to wear but what ? I usually wear dresses/ skirts and only really go form boots to flip flops/ sandals etc . I think it will be too cold for bare feet esp in evening . Trainers but if so which ones ? Am I too old for trainers and dress combo ? Im not the trendiest but just want to feel sorted !!
TIA

No, you're not too old. Dress, trainers plus jacket/cardi will be perfect for walking on a spring day in London. If it was me, I'd buy Skechers because they're so comfy from the minute you put them on. They're cheaper at Sports Direct or Pavers.

Thank you I’ll go trainer shopping I think

What about Stan Smiths OP? They are versatile and will go with everything.

FitFlop have brought out a range of trainers that I'm going to look at, they look nice but not too trendy/try hard

New Balance are good for a fashion look and come in loads of different colourways

The good thing about London is that nobody takes any notice and you are never too old for anything!
Honestly you would have to try really, really hard to look out of place here, I can guarantee whatever your're wearing I have seen worse/weirder/way less appropriate (and that's usually just in 1 tube journey)
I would go for a plain trainer like a stan smith or similar - just make it something comfortable

I second New Balance, so comfortable!

I wear trainers with skirts and dresses and I am almost 60. It's the best way of staying comfortable whilst walking in London.

Chickenlicken15 · 15/03/2022 18:43

Thank you everyone I’ll have a look round - I just hate not being comfortable!

Trainers definitely fine! But equally by mid-May who knows what the weather will be like? It could be hot - we’ve had 30s in May before so definitely warm enough to wear sandals and probably too warm for trainers so I’d just keep an eye on the forecast and decide nearer the time. But anything goes and a lot of people wear comfy footwear as London usually means lots of walking.

Seconded - classic Adidas look good on everybody.
