Second hand Mulberry

Found a second hand (but virtually brand new) Mulberry for half the cost. It is £350.

AIBU to spend this on myself? I have wanted one for years but for some reason I feel ridiculously guilty about it and my OH is saying it is a crazy amount of money to spend on a bag.

I have the money. I just feel a bit guilty lol!

I saw one recently in a second hand shop. I couldn’t bring myself to spend nearly £500. Thought about it and went back a week later. It was sold. You can always sell it on when you’ve had some fun with it.

Can you afford it?
Will you use it?
Will it bring you joy?

If the answer is 'yes' to all three, then buy it.

I have just done the same thing, it is my first ever luxury handbag. I also felt guilty but had saved up for a while and I’ve wanted one for years, so i bought it! My husband to be is an enabler though, he told me to go for it 😂 Buy the bag OP! It sounds like a great price for a new piece, as long as you know it’s authentic?

Grk1964 · 14/03/2022 18:02

Yes, yes and yes!

Husband is making me feel guilty though. He says it is a waste of money because it is just a bag lol! I’ve wanted one for years and this one is perfect. Just what I’m after x

Yes, definitely authentic. It comes with the Mulberry receipt and I’ve had a few Mulberry fans confirm for me it is genuine. It is an oak small Bayswater satchel. Practically brand new.

Most of what we buy could be called a waste of money in that we don't actually need it to survive. If this is your 'disposable' money that you don't need for anything essential, it's not up to your husband to decide how you spend it.

I would be surprised if your husband never spent money on any non-necessities for himself!

Turningpurple · 14/03/2022 18:09

I definitely would.

I gor an alexa and bayswater tote last year. The baywater didn't fit my laptop bur the tote did.

I love them and get loads of use. I buy 1 or 2 hand bags a year. I save up and they bring me some joy. I would say, go for it x

LittleBearPad · 14/03/2022 18:09

If you love it and can afford it, buy it.

Your DH no doubt has spent money on stuff you’d consider ‘just a …’

Hoppinggreen · 14/03/2022 18:10

It’s not a waste of money if you will use and enjoy it

Holothane · 14/03/2022 18:10

You go for it the money dh wastes on baccy his crap over the years yes you have your bag you’ve got the money go for it.

RogueV · 14/03/2022 18:15

I bought a second hand Alexa from eBay. The latest version - £600. It was an absolute bargain. Go for it!

Grk1964 · 14/03/2022 18:44

Thanks everyone, you’ve made me feel less guilty haha!
