What's happening to my eyes?

Pre covid and wfh I used to wear eye make up daily with absolutely no issues. I'd remove it before bed get up and start again the next day.

Roll forward nearly 2 years and I hardly ever wear eye make up unless I'm going somewhere, however every time I do the day my eyes are watery and irritated.

I usually wear Benefit mascara and use Clinique eye make remover, but I've switched things and bought new Clinique mascara and have tried make up wipes but my eyes are still sore and watery the day after.

The problem is definitely the next day, rather than when I'm wearing the make up which makes me wonder if it's the eye make up remover??

Any suggestions? Or can I never wear make up again 🙁

I have the same problem. I have yet to find an eye make-up remover that doesn't cause problems. However, micellar water or the Liz Earle or Eve Lom cleansing balms don't cause issues. The elemis cleansing balm does cause a slight issue so ok so long as there is a couple of days in between uses.

I use Blephasol to remove eye makeup. It comes with lint free cotton pads. Bought from Amazon.

I can only use either baby lotion or baby oil to remove eye makeup. Every traditional remover makes my eyes sting and extremely watery. Simple used to do one that was a lotion rather than a clear one which was good but I haven't been able to find it for ages.

Try Vaseline to remove the eye makeup, I have always infrequently worn it and that's the only thing that doesn't make me look like I've had a sobfest when it's removed.

I've used jojoba oil since the Great Oil Cleansing Method craze of ?2010 - it takes everything off easily. Rub a little in then wipe with cotton pads soaked in warm water.

Start using a MakeUp Eraser cloth, you need only hot water, and yes it removes even the most stubborn waterproof eye make-up. Wouldn't have believed it myself until I tried it.

I haven't used any make-up remover lotions, wipes, cotton pads for well over 2 years.

It will save your eyes, purse and the environment.
