Help me find stylish and comfy sandals I can walk for miles in (and won’t smell)

Im after a nice pair of summer sandals that are good for walking miles in (think sunny city break) but are a bit smarter than this Velcro canvas walking types and would go with a summer dress or tailored shorts. As a starter for 10, I ordered these online as I thought they would fit the bill but my feel are super skinny and while the base is super comfortable, the straps are wide on me and my feet slip out of them :(

So I think I’ll need some kind of adjustable strap to tighten them? I can’t cope with the stink of Birkenstocks….but comfort is high in the agenda. Also, not fixed in the fisherman style…buckles, bands, cross cross all considered!

Any suggestions or similar brands to Geox? The soles were sooo comfy.

These are ridiculously comfortable, I had the tan last summer and have just ordered the rose gold too. They are so soft.

I've just looked at John Lewis footbed sandals - not all footbed but lots of comfy ones and not just for walking. Read reviews as there are some other options especially if you'd like them for going out at night abroad etc in.

Bravoecholima · 14/03/2022 14:47

Camper or crocs sandals are super comfortable

Hoppinggreen · 14/03/2022 14:49

Sketchers do sandals that are really comfy

Vicliz24 · 14/03/2022 14:50

I have a pair of Skechers Reggae something sandals that have taken me all over the world. So comfy. But my Birks never smell either.

Thasheblows88 · 14/03/2022 18:55

Op will have to try some different options but I've got skinny feet and Sketchers are too wide for me.

Saltwaters? Can walk for miles in mine :)

Try Hibiscrub skin wash to keep foot odors under control. It is basically what doctors use to scrub up pre-surgery so it is very effective at killing all the microbes. After a while you only need to use it 1-2 times a week. It has been a total game changer for me!

…Fitflop.co.uk happy shopping xxx and happy holiday feet !

Moshulu wasabi all the way for me. I’ve bought two pairs each spring for a good few years now and worn them to death. I have problem feet (bunions, very thin skin on heels so everything rubs, need some cushioning underfoot, hot feet etc, lucky me eh) but I can walk for miles in these.

PartyPlan · 15/03/2022 21:48

I adore my Tevas. They aren’t fancy but so comfy and quite trendy atm, even though they were associated with dads wearing them with socks.

BiscuitLover3678 · 15/03/2022 21:59

I used to find M&S good

Please don’t use Birkenstock! They’re all great but terrible for you if you’re walking for hours, up hills etc.

NatriumChloride · 15/03/2022 22:24

Birkenstocks all the way… I live in mine from April to September and none of them stink at all. Have walked for miles in them with no discomfort whatsoever.

anon666 · 15/03/2022 22:48

Bookmarking this for summer holiday shopping!!

I've had Clarks, Skechers and one other I can't recall. Each time I find a good pair, it gets discontinued and the search begins again.

I've had pairs stuck together with duct tape and all sorts because I can't find a replacement and can't bear to wear something plasticky or uncomfortable.

MrsPetty · 16/03/2022 01:10

A bit Highgate Mums I know but I live in my Saltwaters June - September ☀️

iamsoreadyforbednow · 16/03/2022 01:16

My summer go-go’s this year are ✨crocs✨

Another vote for Teva.

I have the sandals in brown suede leather. I kid myself they are got so ugly. Soo comfortable.

WellNotReally · 16/03/2022 10:24

I've found Moshulu to be far too wide for my narrow feet. Teva are good, but I wouldnt go for their original style as the triangular bit of metal on the back strap stuck right in the boney part of my ankle when I did them up tightly (again a narrow foot issue).

GettingStuffed · 16/03/2022 10:24

Pavers do some nice ones, I have a pair of wedges that I can wear all day. You'll need t o wade through the sort of shoe my 92 year old mother in law would wear.

CraftyCleopatra · 16/03/2022 12:37

Ok update! The strive ones arrived…
Look…great! Tick
Comfort…great! Tick
Don’t fall off ridiculous skinny feet…great! Tick
But…
They are making little farty noises when I walk Blush. Little air pockets created when I lift my foot I presume.
Is this a dealbreaker? Is there a way around this sandal wearing experts?

I have never managed to get Birkenstocks to stop blistering the sides of my feet. They're agony.

I can walk miles in Saltwaters. Don't care if they're not cool - they're so comfortable.

I agree. Most of the shoes are aimed at older people, but there are a few gems. I have a pair of black loafers from there, and a lovely pair of boots. You just have to look carefully.
