5.3ft, size 12-14, perimeno tummy and curvy hips! Where to buy from and what to buy? Getting fed up of trying and sending everything back! 😂

Can I ask your age? I would be able to advise better

Following. I haven't bought anything for a couple of years now, and have new meno tummy, nothing fits and I'm sick of my wardrobe

lulubooboo · 14/03/2022 13:57

I’m 44 but like to think I’m 30 😂

I'll give you a list of where I prefer to buy certain pieces
H&M- Jeans
New look/river island- dresses
H&M-Underwear
Urban Outfitters- Jackets/Coats/tshirts
ASOS is good for shoes and other bits in general but ASOS own aren't the best clothes wise in my opinion

Demelza21 · 14/03/2022 16:05

I also love Urban Outfitters sweatshirts- just the plain ones with the small bdg embrodiery are so nice. I get a Medium and I'm a size 10 but I like them oversized

Well today I tried on jeans and trousers in Zara and h&m and came to the conclusion that I will forever live in sports wear! I’m working on losing weight and growing an inch or 5 but in the meantime 🤷‍♀️

I’m your height and early 40s too. M&S short length trousers work well for me. I’m living in their high waisted wide leg jeans right now with uniqlo wool jumpers over heattech / cotton shirts. I’m buying a fair amount via vinted now that I’m not in smart suit type stuff where the fit needs to be precise. Cos, zara, two danes, jaeger, bimba y lola - I’m not fussy on brand.

Demelza21 · 14/03/2022 19:16

Just been looking on h&m sale and there's some nice bits really cheap! I love a bargain. Just got some wide leg linen trousers for £10 😱

Demelza21 · 14/03/2022 19:19

Brown linen trousers

Why?
Judystilldreamsofhorses · 14/03/2022 19:45

I’m a wee bit taller (5ft 6) with curvy hips/bum and more of a tummy than I would like which I think is a combination of WFH and PM. I’m a 10/12, and my preferred shops are:

Jeans - Whistles or Levi’s - I find it hard to get bottoms because of my bottom, so don’t mind spending on those
Trousers - Cos
Jumpers/cardigans - H&M, Arket, OtherStories
Tees - Joanie, Zara
Dresses - I used to buy mainly from Warehouse and Topshop, so recent purchases have been from Depop

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 14/03/2022 19:46

Oh, I also got some great jeans from M&S recently - high waisted straight legs with a visible button fly. I saw them on Who, What, Wear and thought I would give them a punt since I had a 20% Sparks thing. They are fab.

MikeWozniaksMohawk · 14/03/2022 19:49

I had a personal stylist appointment at John Lewis today because my wardrobe needs a real refresh. I can highly recommend it. No hard sell - it costs nothing, they aren’t on commission and there’s no obligation - just lots of ideas of things to try on and advice.

Honestly Zara & H&M will not be your friend. On the whole the quality of the fabrics are poor and they are cut for teenagers (especially Zara). You need to look in shops with better fabric and cut for women
Susie3333 · 14/03/2022 22:14

I find h&m jeans perfect. I'm a curvy 10 with a bigger bum and thighs and they suit my shape really well. Especially the mom jeans, they seem wider cut at the hips and a little extra room at the waist.

TiddleTaddleTat · 15/03/2022 21:33

I’m a similar size / shape and really rate the Esprit stuff I’ve ordered recently. Good buys in the sale, lots of discount codes , 100% cotton etc. The Paperbag trouser is a good shape for me (pear shape) and is a good length.

TiddleTaddleTat · 15/03/2022 21:34

Agree with PP about H&M. Just about the only things I’ve bought there in the past few years are the slim elastic aged trousers but the quality has really nosedived. Looks terrible as soon as it has been washed.
