Leather jacket/make up stains on collar - please help!

I’ve been given a gorgeous leather jacket and I love wearing it, but I’ve noticed the collar sometimes get stained with my BB cream!

I only wear very little make up (just BB cream and mascara really), and I don’t use much cream at all. But I do sometimes apply a bit to my neck to avoid having a different coloured neck/face.

What can I do to stop it from rubbing off on my jacket collar (it leaves quite noticeable light stains on my black jacket)?

Also I’ve been using a damp cloth to very gently remove it which does seem to work but is that the right thing to do??? I feel a bit nervous about cleaning it that way as I don’t think leather jackets are supposed to get wet?

Any tips from leather experts/owners welcome!

baby wipes?

sweatergirl · 13/03/2022 12:12

Thank you @Bunty55 I did wonder about baby wipes but was worried about the chemicals. Maybe water wipes??

I can’t be the only one who has this problem! Maybe I should just embrace going make up free in the leather jacket😂

Micellar water. Seriously it takes makeup off of everything, I use it to clean my jeans sometimes before I go out 😂😂
In terms of the transfer issue you can’t do much to stop it. Set creams with powder and this can help, also using setting spray. But it can’t really be helped

I use this leather cleaner [[https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/274338895183?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=7101533165274578&mkcid=2&itemid=274338895183&targetid=4585169652812020&device=m&mktype=&googleloc=&poi=&campaignid=412354547&mkgroupid=1305120599331881&rlsatarget=pla-4585169652812020&abcId=9300541&merchantid=87779&msclkid=47bf3d628de41a72d4e85f4f6edd9bca]] to clean leather bags before painting onto them. I just pop a little bit onto a cotton wool pad or lint free wipe (like they use for gel nails) and it takes off any grime and dirt.

Go to a tack shop, and buy some leather tack cleaner - I use Carr Day Martin Belvoir spray.
