Matalan sizes 2022 is it me?

Ordered some stuff
Sized up based on previous experience
Stuff seems too big.
Have they made clothes bigger or am I smaller/experiencing negative body image because patriarchy?
Actually want a straight answer don't sugarcoat it.

They have made stuff bigger.

I bought a couple of pairs of trousers last year. I had to return and reorder a size down and they were still too big. I ended up flogging them on eBay for 99p because I missed the refund window as it involves a special trip to a large town to return.

I won’t bother buying again as I lost ££.

Last summer I had to buy Matalan trousers two sizes smaller than I normally do. Their sizing is way out, ludicrously so.

Just giving this thread a bump to see if this is still the case? Have never bought from Matalan before but it looks like it could potentially be good for holidays bits, such as skirts, shorts, sandles etc, because they're well priced and apparently good quality. Normally a size 10, but after doing a bit of research, it looks like I should size down.

Just wondering what your experiences are?

Shoe sizes are fine but clothes do seem to be cut on the larger side. I'm a 12 in Matalan but 14 or even sometimes 16 in New Look, Primark and HM.

I find Sainsbury's TU clothes and Matalan is cut similarly.

I've only had linen trousers from there so far and they're huge. Normally a 12 and had to order a 10 which is still a bit big

I ordered a pair of size 8 jeans last week. I always order the same pair and they're the only jeans that fit perfectly. They arrived yesterday and they're huge, I'm so disappointed.

Strangely I bought my usual Grace straight jeans in there today. Despite wearing the same type and size for about 6 years with many pairs from Matalan, these were far too small!!! Definitely something odd happening with their sizes.

They are huge. I bought a pair of capri trousers. Maybe two sizes over my usual. Couldnt be bothered to return so wearing them around the house.
