UK Size 6 too big for size 10

I really liked this dress and as the reviews said it came up big I ordered size 8, it was gigantic. Returned it thinking maybe the size 6 would be a better fit. Looked better but still far too big. Has anyone else found the sizing in Next to be massively wrong as I reckon if they’d had size 4 it would fit perfectly and I’m a good size 10.

yup next is all over the place size wise, im a 12/14 and have a size 10 jumpsuit from next thats still a bit loose and from the pics its not meant to be baggy

Next sizing is notoriously inconsistent and on the generous end of vanity sizing.

I've had it before now where I've bought two pairs of the same trousers in different colours in the same size, one is huge and the other is too small.

I ordered a gillet from there and had to get a 6 (on a solid 10) and could have gone smaller. Mental. God knows what a size 6 would do!

Yep. I’m a 6 - I’m very short so not massively thin, just small framed, and don’t even bother looking in most shops as everything just swamps me. All these long prairie dresses make me look like I’ve dressed up in my nanna’s nightie 🙄 So frustrating.

Also - teen ranges sometimes work size-wise but I’m in my forties. I want to dress like a grown-up not a 13 year old! I want to buy nice quality clothes that are suitable for my lifestyle and not tat that might fit but will fall apart after the first wash.

It was much looser, they must’ve pulled it in for the styling of the pictures. I like it when websites say 5’9” size XX model wearing size YY

I have Next pj's in an XS. I'm a 10 top, 6 bottom so an 8 when I can't buy separates. I'd have gone for a S if I didn't know Next were huge!

I agree it's good to be told the size the model is wearing and their height.

I'm finding this in shops, a mixture of cutting corners in employing quality designers and vanity sizing I expect. Even an oversized garment like that you'd expect to be proportionately sized, so it still fits an 8 like it should etc.

I knew you were going to say Next! The dress looks massive on the model, you'd have thought they'd have at least pinned it to make it look better.

I'm a size 6 so don't even bother with nexts own brand as they run a size bigger so their size 6 is actually a size 8.

Their sizes on the whole are generous anyway . I'm a 10 and often wear a 6 /8

Next are terrible for vanity sizing.

My sister is a real UK size 4 and she can’t get anything but 10-12 year old clothes to fit. But I’m a size 14/16 and find those sizes are too big at the waist and too small at the hip - so they must be vanity sizing only the size 6-12 stuff.

Next are terrible for this. I have the same pair of jeans in different colours and needed different sizes!

Vanity sizing is my bugbear. Just make clothes for the size people are.
