Slightly smart clothes for 13 yo dd who doesn't want to wear dresses or jeans

That s it really
Dd has an event coming up dress code is smart
She wanted to wear sports leggings and jersey.
I d love a compromise.
Jumpsuits - no
Jeans - no
Wide trousers - no

Chinos - possibility

Her suggestion is t shirt and varsity type bomber jacket on top- which is again too casual. I ve said she can get those for afterwards but we still
Need something for the ceremony / occasion.

Anyone seen anything or got any suggestions of where to search ?
Thanks in advance

I like H&M for this kind of thing. DD1 is 14 and hasn't worn a skirt or dress for 5 years. After several years of refusing to wear anything even vaguely feminine she has slowly started experimenting with simply cut clothes that suit her body shape, she's got some really nice simple tops (e.g. blue blouse) from H&M that she likes and that pass the 'grandmother test', in other words are smart enough to keep my more traditionally-minded mother happy. Trousers wise DD2 (12) hates lots of trousers because she's becoming an hourglass shape and many trousers for 12yos are too tight on the hips but too loose on the waist, she lives in leggings and jeggings because they fit her better. It's all about the fabric which affects how smart they look. Have you thought about shoes yet?

@GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal
DH turned to DS and said "that's the Patriarchy in action. No one even makes clothes for us that we can't get in and out of without help."
Love that your DH is on the wavelength!

shoes - will be trainers/ cons/ vans - likely newish and clean, think that s not an issue tbh.

@JaninaDuszejko yes H and M had some good options too, we ordered a similar shirt from there

Tailored shorts? Weather dependant a bit but this sort of look is smart (I’d pref the shorts longer)
