Wearing trainers with wedding dress

My dress is long and doesn’t show my shoes. I hate heels so was thinking of getting nice flats but wondering about being comfortable. Does anyone wear trainers or is that mad? I’m 5ft8 so not like I want to be taller.

Depends on the vibe of your whole wedding imo. If you're going for a funky casual vibe it could work really well. I'd not then it could be something you really regret because you would likely see them when you walk. What about flats during the day for ceremony and pictures etc and trainers for when you're kicking back in the evening?

I’m tall and I had trainers under mine. No-one could see them anyway and I was comfy.

My SIL wore sparkly silver converse with her wedding dress and they looked amazing.

AwkwardPaws27 · 11/03/2022 10:41

DD is going to wear trainers with hers, as she has back issues.

Her day, her way!

Yes go for it. My very feet were ripped to shreds o my wedding day and looked awful on honeymoon!

Myshitisreal · 11/03/2022 11:11

I wore heels down the aisle then changed into purple glittery converse. Chronic pain choice plus a style choice 😂 my bridesmaid wore dm boots with ribbon to tie in with the colours (same as the ribbon in my gutties)

FunnyTalks · 11/03/2022 12:32

I did - although wasn't a trad occasion so maybe it doesn't count.

But I'd say this was the perfect excuse to get yourself the most beautiful trainers you can find.

Fab And Happy Wedding Day for tomorrow DaffodilSmile

OP Any excuse for more footwear- I would go for low heeled shoes for walk up & down and sparkly trainers / converse/Kate Spades for after

I'm sure I saw somewhere personalised versions which were really lovely with a touch of sparkle

EmmaGrundyForPM · 11/03/2022 14:22

one of my friends wore a gorgeous long ivory traditional wedding dress with a full skirt. She wore pink converse underneath and was able to dance the night away

Heckythump1 · 11/03/2022 14:24

I wore lace converse :)

notawittyname1954 · 11/03/2022 14:45

My daughter wore sparkly converse under hers.

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 11/03/2022 14:51

I wore silver sparkly Toms shoes. I did get my alterations done while wearing them because they need to be sure the dress is the right length so changing heel height could be an issue.

soulinablackberrypie · 11/03/2022 21:25

I know somebody who got married in sparkly flip-flops!

Beetlebum1981 · 11/03/2022 21:47

I wore sequinned converse when I got married - I hate heels, they're just not me.
