Best brands for capsule wardrobe/basics?

So I'm finally returning to work after having my LO last summer. I'm starting a new job this month after handing my notice in during my maternity leave. But since giving birth I've come to hate most of my wardrobe!

What are your favourite brands to shop for basics and/or building a capsule wardrobe? Looking for brands that are of higher quality than your standard high street shops e.g New Look, River Island, etc etc but not necessarily bank breaking

Uniqlo do good basics and not too expensive.

Kettlewell do great basics and match your colour palette too

John Lewis - anyday selection do good basics

Whistles - stylish, good quality, last for ages. Can be a bit pricey so sales area of website is good & Brand Alley can be good for picking up discounted Whistles stuff as well.

Whistles. Definitely brilliant quality- mine have lasted years. They offer fairly good sales too.

I'm surprised at people saying Whistles. The quality isn't great and is mostly polyester. I bought some work tops from Kettlewell and the quality is good and the range of colours is excellent. I've also bought silk tops by NRBY discounted on John Lewis.

Whistles - but I agree the quality has dropped recently
