oh, i have all kinds of eye makeup!

from Wet n Wild to Chanel to Stila to Barry M to Rimmel and No. 7.

love it, love it, love it, beign a Latina to the core.

even here in the middle of nowhere, dd1 and i play makeup all the time and do each other's eyes.

i have a heated eye lash curler and stocked up on mascara before we left Edinburgh in case i found it hard to replace my most used brand.

don't have any per una, though!

need to try that out.

fishie · 04/01/2008 22:18

potatoes are nicer. ghastly brand.

and i have green eyes too, tried for years to wear golden or black eye makeup and dyed hair orange. what a fool.

expatinscotland · 04/01/2008 22:19

lately my daytime ones are two Barbara Daly ones I saw in the Jan. edition of Easy Living.

it's a beige one and a chocolate one called Truffle on the lower lash line.

expatinscotland · 04/01/2008 22:20

dd1 has green eyes and i'm a little flummoxed as to what shades will suit her best.

she has very pale skin and her hair is chesnut brown with gold and ginger streaks.

southeastastra · 04/01/2008 22:20

i love make up, probably why i like facepainting too.

i got lots of purple/silver glittery eyeshadow. it lost all it's glitteryness on my eyes.

brown eyes eat eyeshadow i think.

that's so true, south!

my brown eyes do eat eyeshadow.

on dd1's green ones shadow just makes them pop even more.

BBBee · 04/01/2008 22:22

agree 100 - I have brown eyes and green works well on me (not like a drag queen as one mumsnetter once said) but blue - are you sure? Blue?

Hmmm.

southeastastra · 04/01/2008 22:27

i've given up now and just stick to brown.

even black looks awful.

i remember a bf saying i had lovely eyes in 1984 when i wore a mary quant electric blue/pink combi double-ended eye pencil. hehe

fishie · 04/01/2008 22:27

you need a base to stop eyelids eating makeup. i have a little tube of stuff from mac which cost £10 and i was horrified, but 8 months on and still half way through...

and in the future young people, your brow will droop a bit and rub it all off, so grim.

ahundredtimes · 04/01/2008 22:30

I think I need that base then.

Did I read that right? Am I going to get a make-over at a rugby festival?

expatinscotland · 04/01/2008 22:31

I already do use a base.

Right now, it's Benefit LemonAid.

But I've tried Clinique, MAC and Elizabeth Arden primers in the past.

ahundredtimes · 04/01/2008 22:32

Your dd sounds ver pretty expat. I bet she won't need any make-up at all. I wish I had streaks in my hair, and green eyes.

expatinscotland · 04/01/2008 22:39

the kid's so pretty, even strangers will comment on it.

she takes a terrific photograph.

we do not try to lead her in any direction, especially because she is already very tall and thin and, because of her learning disabilities and delays, has been seen by paeds and had numerous tests done. as her last paed put it when explaining the results of recent tests on her thigh bones, 'she'll be at least 5ft., 10 in. but if i had to put money on it i'd say 5ft., 11in. even.'

the other day she said to me, 'i'm going to be a model.'

ahundredtimes · 04/01/2008 22:53

She sounds lovely expat. I have a friend whose daughter is 15 and has been approached to be a model since she was 10 She's finally letting her do some work, but she doesn't like it much - the mother, not the daughter, the daughter is having a ball!

expatinscotland · 04/01/2008 22:58

i have twice been approached on the street and in a shop in Edinburgh about DD1.

it's her height and the fact that she really is naturally thin like her dad.

her dad's mum's side are all very tall and slim despite eating whatever they please.

but for me it's her hair. it's like a cloak round her, down past the middle of her back already.

only my SIL, a hairdresser, cuts it. she sees her every other month to tend it and she just treats it like spun gold. she says it's not often you see such hair.

her eyes were grey until she was about two. but now they are just green with no touch of hazel or brown.

my fondest hope, however, is that her nature stays as good and strong as it has been since she was born.

so much like her father's mother. good, but at the same time strong and sweet in the way only a Scotswoman can be.

Didn't Cod say she has green eyes? She was going on about that per una pencil and the blue jeans one wasn't she?

She sounds perfect actually Expat, strong and sweet is as about a good a combination as you could hope for really.

expatinscotland · 04/01/2008 23:23

she's striking. i think she will have a rather large nose, a bit like Uma Thurman, because both DH and i are like this.

but what to put with green eyes?

Green eyes can wear just about anything. I really like purples and silvers/greys. Mine change colour - if i'm tired or poorly they go grey and when i'm o.k they go green.
