No7 new packing

I'm a long time user of Boots No7 and loved the sleek black packaging they used to have. Now they have had a revamp and the packaging looks tacky and cheap.

I'm still using things in the old packaging but when they run out I'm a bit wary of replacing it as on the Boots website there are a lot of negative reviews, mainly on lipstick and foundation, saying the formula has totally changed and isn't as good.

They ruined their cleansing products a long time ago and now it looks like the make up is going the same way.

I usually use the essentially natural foundation, moisture drench lipstick or lip crayon and the volume mascara. Has anyone used the new formulas yet and find they are OK?

I hear you @citygirl1961, I used the Matte foundation for years, good coverage with a pump action dispenser so you got the lot out, the new packaging has a wand thing that I not sure how is supposed to used to apply the product, plainly there is going to be waste as you cant get the last of it out of the bottle with said wand thing and it smells strange - I am going to try a few other brands now and see how I get on, there must be something out there Confused

BusterGonad · 10/03/2022 12:59

Have you looked on ebay/Amazon etc for any of the old products? Maybe worth stocking up.

Darklane · 10/03/2022 15:43

Oh, I so agree.
They’ve ruined virtually everything these days, don’t know if it’s a profit margin thing. Their cleansers have never been as good since the last update, I used to use no other but never buy them now. And used to love the compact cream foundation. Then they made it unavailable in most of the colours. Ive given up looking to be honest so can’t comment on the latest incarnation, sorry.

WhatTheWhoTheWhatThe · 10/03/2022 15:48

The new formula for the matte foundation is dreadful! I used it for years and then recently bought the new version and returned it for a refund. It’s completely different, looks awful and the wand is ridiculous. They didn’t quibble and I got the feeling that it was being returned a lot. The online reviews all slate the new formula too.

PastaWithWine · 10/03/2022 16:57

You can still get the products in the old packaging on the NO7-specific website.

I'm not sure if I can post it here, but if you sign up using my code, you'll get £10 off your first order too: www.no7beauty.co.uk/referrals.list?applyCode=DRWO-R1

I am pretty disappointed with No7 too. I have used their loose powder and tubing mascara for years. The mascara used to be in blingy gold packaging and now the packaging is bland - white and beige. Looks cheap and old fashioned. I actually prefer the style of the powder tub but there's much less powder - about a third less. Bad times.

CowsAreNotGreen · 10/03/2022 17:21

Oh no I thought it was just packaging but are they reformulating it too?

Yup and the shades are completely off. Warm beige is now Donal Trump orange
BusterGonad · 10/03/2022 17:36

Why would they do that? Its crazy. No7 is the type of brand that has a loyal following too.

CowsAreNotGreen · 10/03/2022 17:52

Yup and the shades are completely off. Warm beige is now Donal Trump orange oh dear NoooooOooooOooo Calico is the ONLY shade that works on me in ANYTHING.

CowsAreNotGreen · 10/03/2022 17:55

Oh phew - it says this on the hydraluminous.

"Rest assured, the formulation of this product remains the same, giving you great results."

WhatTheWhoTheWhatThe · 10/03/2022 17:57

I switched to the protect and perfect foundation when I went for a refund as I was in a bit of a panic and needed something. The warm beige is fine in this range. Will probably start researching other foundations though in case they carry on messing around with formulas

CambsAlways · 10/03/2022 18:03

Well I’m so gutted as I loved the custom blend foundation drops best ever foundation, but guess what discontinued and I’m desperate for warm ivory shade, looked everywhere but nothing! Why oh why do they discontinue things that are so popular !

Fairyarmpits · 10/03/2022 18:21

Bourjois has gone and now No 7 has gone to the dogs - my two favourite make up brands!

I have no idea what I am going to use that is decent quality but not too expensive. Sad

citygirl1961 · 10/03/2022 19:51

Seems I'm not the only one to notice how N07 has gone down hill. The only other brand I use that is good quality and good for my sensitive skin is Clinique so I may stock up more on that, it is more expensive but does last ages. What other brands will you try now?

Dear lord thank god. I'm a Calico and n7 colour matching is the best in the world (and I've been matched by Chanel, Dior, Estée Lauder, Armani, Clarins, Nars and Bobbi Brown over the last few years. (corpse, fresh corpse, Donald Trump orange, More Donald, 2nd prize but no Calico, Greasy flatfaced corpse and Glittery Donald respectively)
BaconAndAvocado · 11/03/2022 09:07

I totally agree re the new packaging, it's bloody awful!!

Glad I found out the foundation colours have altered.
I've used and loved Hydraluminous on the past but sounds like I'll need to get a new colour match.

SNUG2022 · 11/03/2022 09:13

Packaging wise, I queried this when it changed, and it's now recyclable and better for the planet, so couldn't really complain!

Ostryga · 11/03/2022 09:13

@PAFMO not to be the bearer of bad news, but calico in Hydraluminous is also the only foundation I use, and I’ve recently got the new version and it is definitely darker than the original. It oxidises more whereas the original version never did.

I’m having to mix it with a much lighter shade to get it back to what it was. Very fucking annoying.

Oh my life.
Off to the bay of E I go.
I suppose I could mix some of the numerous bottles of the undead shades I've got. Sad

ChristmasAtHogwarts · 11/03/2022 09:21

I was a calico wearer in beautifully matte and I had to switch to porcelain

Clymene · 11/03/2022 09:26

I got some pressed powder for taking to work and it doesn't come with a little powder pad. Am I supposed to carry a brush around? Stupid

OldTinHat · 11/03/2022 09:30

Ha! I'm not going crazy then! I've used No7 matte foundation for years, cool ivory. The one I recently bought has a wand that I'd never seen before (thought I'd bought the wrong one by mistake) and I also look like Donald Trump now.

Following with interest and would love to hear if anyone can recommend a different brand, similar price, for colour and coverage. Boots is the only store here to visit in person otherwise its an extortionate ferry trip to get to a city.

Just to update, I've now got a couple of samples. I am cool ivory too. I've got the hydraluminous and essentially natural in cool ivory and the colour seems the same as the old essentially natural.

However, I tried the new lip crayon on the back of my hand in the store, its now been changed from Daydreamer to something or other nude or naked and its a darker colour and its sticky in texture so that's a no no.

Last night I ordered a Clinique lipstick foor £20.00 but I know it will be good quality. If I go back to No7 lipsticks I'll avoid that shiny crayon.

Can't understand why they have to do this, I also can't understand why they have messed with some of the colours of the foundations and brought some new ones in. The original shades were supposed to be part of the colour match so the new shades won't match with the machine.

Also, how many times have they changed their tinted moisturiser?

Leave things alone Boots.
