I have this black glittery skirt
But I don't seem to have anything to go with it on top!
I need advice....
A top that would go with this?
For going out in?

What to go with this

Black slouch off one shoulder top? To make it casual cool or tight ish vest type tops for more dressy.
I dislike bright colours with black and prefer tonal but you may feel different.
Also depends on your body confidence as you could go wild and have some
Sort of cut away type top- minimal jewellery.

I have a similar skirt to that and I’ve worn it with
-Off the shoulder fine knit black jumper, tights, ankle boots

  • silky/drapey jersey baggy t-shirt with a french tuck, and a denim or cotton shirt open over the top, tights and ankle boots
-black silk vest, tights and ankle boots. -Breton top with a French tuck, tights and ankle boots.

I don’t really do “proper” heels aside from block heeled ankle boots but I think any heels would go. As it’s a short tight sparkly skirt, I prefer to slightly contrast that with plainer or more casual tops and boots, with messyish hair.

Interested to see how other people style theirs.

A slouchy cream cashmere jumper would be nice with it but maybe too hot for going out in. Agreed that top should be slouchy and quite casual and tucked in.

purpleme12 · 09/03/2022 21:55

Ah I'm not good at slouchy 🤣
I normally wear fitted tops which are low cut
But I tried all the ones I've already got with this and none of them go with it!

But yes I'd need a short sleeved top to go out in

I think fitted AND low cut with a sparkly mini will be wayyyy toooooo much!! Unless you're in Liverpool in which case crack on

MadeinSW3 · 09/03/2022 22:07

Bodysuit, not low cut

purpleme12 · 09/03/2022 22:07

Bodysuit??

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 09/03/2022 22:09

The skirt is only just above the knee so it's not that mini

I have a similar skirt but mine is gold. I have worn it with knitwear mainly - black cashmere polo neck, oversized black crew neck and so on - and opaque tights, fiat boots or black leather trainers. To me the skirt is a statement so the other bits need to be low key.

I am not a dress up fancy person though, so possibly quite a different style.

purpleme12 · 09/03/2022 22:22

Yes perhaps I've got a different style 🤣

I'm honestly not like the stereotype referred to above 🤣
However yes I'm not averse to a mini skirt and low cut top 🤣 not every day 🤣
I'm short so longer doesn't compliment me
And big boobs so again high cut don't do much either

I do like how it looks on the top this one
But how do you go to the toilet in these??
Do you have to take all your clothes off??

Love the skirt! I’d say a slouchy t-shirt or 3/4 sleeve top in black if you want a simple look. I love the Breton top idea of a previous poster too. For a dressier look try a tucked in shirt - a loose gauzy material would probably work best. If you’re slim then a tight ribbed top or body could work too.

Remember the rule of mini skirts if you are over aged 25…. L.O.T.A - this stands for “legs out - tits away”

purpleme12 · 09/03/2022 23:07

Ah I'm not very good with that rule 🤣

Thank you for the ideas everyone
Keep them coming

What about some sort of camisole and a silky or gauzy shirt over it? I agree with pp that for me if I am wearing something short I tend to cover up on top more, but I don’t suit v or scoop necks at all so that is easy for me.
