No matter the brand I find even when my foundation matches my skin tone is still never looks right.
Looks dull or washed out.
I've tried alternatives matte, dewy ect
How do I get a decent colour.

Try find the right undertone for your skin. I used to use a more pink undertoned foundation and it make my skin look really dull and dark. I switched to a yellow undertone and it looks brighter! Don't contour too heavily and only use a powder on the t zone! Cream blush and highlighter with a damp sponge too!

If you’re struggling to find a good colour match for foundation I strongly recommend dcypher. They make personalised foundations to specifically match your skin tone. You take a few photos and then they send you a sample of foundation. Mine was right first time but if you’re not happy, you can request more samples until you are. And then you can order the full bottle.

Yes to dcypher as well! I opted for the sheer finish and I can apply it in seconds. It is invisible when on - I just look much better. Its about 30 quid which was a lot for me but I'm actually going to use it all which hasn't happened before.

In order to get a true match I had to scan my skin on a sunny day. I can now see my particular phone camera adds a bit of a blue cast to photos, so initially the undertones were wrong. Not sure if that's true of all phones.

Have you been to a counter that colour matches? I think you must be wearing the wrong tone. There are cool, warm and neutral. Wearing the wrong tone will look wrong even if it seems like the right shade.

Thanks all will try
