Why do they do this at the nail salon?

Why do they use solar oil (or similar) on your nails, and then immediately send you to wash your hands? Wouldn’t the oil need some time to penetrate?

I get that they can’t apply the gel/acrylic if your nails are greasy - so why use the oil at that stage? Seems like a waste of product?

Never once have I had a nail tech apply oil and then make me go and wash my hands. And I’ve had my nails done at various different salons.

I’ve only ever had oil applied to my cuticles at the end of the treatment.

I’ve always had it done and I too have been to various salons! It’s always puzzled me!

I do my nails myself now but in the past, cuticle oil has always been applied after the gel has cured.
I have never had oil applied before, it would be a pointless exercise as the gel wouldn’t cure properly and would peel straight off
