Cuticles?

I got a gift set the other day that included cuticle cream. I don’t do much with my nails, as you can tell! As far as I can see the cuticles are just a really tiny strip of kind of plastic-feeling stuff between nail and finger skin? Do mine look like they need cream? I also read about pushing them back but …how, why?
Totally confused!

Cuticles?

My cuticles are very very dry and they end up cracking and forming hard bits of skin that I pick at. Then they bleed and look terrible. So I have to keep my cuticles moisturised and every week or so clip off the hard excess skin and push back what is left. They would never look like yours without that sort of maintenance.

Does the texture of a cuticle actually absorb moisture? It doesn’t seem porous to me.

That sounds rotten, sorry to hear that and thanks for explaining.

You have beautiful hands and nails.

I have very normal cuticles, never have any problems and so leave them alone.

Just because a product is helpful for some it doesn't mean its needed for all, even if those in marketing try to tell us otherwise.

This is the one. If you’d like it, PM me and I’ll post to you.

Should have said, it’s still sealed in its box.

I push mine back regularly with a metal cuticle stick.
One side is sort of like a tiny spoon and the other is pointed, I use the spoon side to push them back.
I don’t usually apply any sort of cream.

This always puzzled me, too. I have no visible cuticles.

LightsoftheNorth · 06/03/2022 14:03

Guess we're all different, I've got visible cuticles which can get very dry.

actiongirl1978 · 06/03/2022 18:10

OP I'd love nails like yours! I have so much excess cuticle, I'm endlessly pushing them back and cutting them and the bleed and crack too.

That said I can't be bothered using cream!

@HaveringWavering Thanks for the kind offer! After lots of trial and error I think I have things sorted.
