Are they 'old hat' now?! I have a wedding in May and want a light and pretty headpiece. Any suggestions, my dress is lilac and navy.

I've also got a wedding in May, so hopefully I'll get some ideas as well!

There is some nice ones on amazon though, but no idea of the quality

I think that for society weddings yes, as they tend to be more traditional. But I think jewelled hair clips or similar are more fashionable.
If it's a traditional wedding with big wedding dress bridesmaids etc then go for a hat or fascinator, if it's a more informal or country wedding then a pretty hair accessory, band or jewelled clip, or nothing. I do think hair should be styled though, I don't get this mix of casual bed hair with a pretty outfit look.

@ukborn it's a very informal wedding at a campsite !! I want to still look nice though

Mumsnet have been saying they are old fashioned for about ten years now but I think they still can look nice. Or yes to big hair clips.

Just been to a wedding in a country hotel. Nobody wore hates or fascinators.

ChickenStripper · 06/03/2022 12:33

Where is the fascinator post that looked like a dead bird? 😂

Echobelly · 06/03/2022 12:35

Some people moan they're all over, but I like 'em and I'll keep wearing them!

Palavah · 06/03/2022 13:11

Do you have a pic of your dress. Ideally with you in it?

I maintain that headgear is really important in making an outfit a wedding outfit. But a hat or headband or something. Doesn't have to be a fascinator.

Jewelled headbands, or pieces you can slide or clip on may do the job.

Just looked up tatler images for the last wedding season out of sheer boredom and there is a good selection of headwear here.

Jesus, fascinators were old fashioned 20 years ago.

Ah that’s a lovely helpful comment.
HermioneWeasley · 07/03/2022 13:19

A fascinator is far too formal for a campsite wedding.

Something like this?

I've bought a hat from this seller before, really liked it.

lollipoprainbow · 07/03/2022 23:17

@Palavah ooh I really like this !!
