Dress for overweight early 20's

A co-worker dresses in nothing but sweats/leggings and large hoodies. She is going on a city trip that includes a theatre night and restaurants or night clubs. She has no dress-up or going out clothes. Where to start?

When I look at dresses on online shops geared to the young set the dresses all seem to be body-con, but she is overweight. How can we help turn this girl into a swan and boost her confidence?

We already suggested black jeans, cute loose top and some medium heels for going out, topped with a biker jacket. Can someone suggest another outfit, perhaps a dress?

I personally think bigger women look amazing in bodycon dresses, especially if they are patterned, but appreciate this might be out of her comfort zone if she's usually casual.
How about a tea dress or baby doll style but with flats eg. Dr Martens type style boots or platform trainers?
It's kind of you all to be helping her.

I assume you have looked at ASOS Curve as there are masses of lovely dresses on here that are not body con?

Also look on Simply Be, and River Island have a Plus section on their site.

Some good ideas! Love the black top HeatherShiver, and ChickenStripper I didn't know about Asos Curve. There are some great finds on there. I love that they are modelled, showing whole body including shoes.

I know she is going with mum and sister to see Hamilton one night, and I know she can do better than leggings, huge sweatshirt and Vans which is her usual uniform. Hoping she can elevate her look, and confidence!

Black jeans/ Black pepulum top with some colour in perhaps.
Heels.

Or I agree that I think bodycons look great on plus size figures! Don't see the point in covering in baggy dresses! Everyone knows we are plus size baggy clothes don't hide that well! (I'm a size 16, used to be 24, still on the weight loss journey)
But shape wear under a dress can make a ton of difference !
