Tell me you best and worst Clarins products

I'm having a little splurge and I have some points to spend. Please tell me your favourite products that you buy time and time again and also any that were disappointing.

I'll start - I love all the Tonic products and have been repeat buying for years. I'm also loving their foaming cleansers. I am returning the double eye serum as it makes my eyes watery and irritated but I do like the double serum for face.

I quite fancy trying the deodorant in the blue bottle and also the eau de Jardins products. Hmmm...too much choice!

I love clarins but the blue shower gel smells awful IMO.

BeaLola · 05/03/2022 19:34

Eau Dynamisante spray - love using this in summer

The original handcream

The lip perfector - think it's 07 toffee (?) it's one of them - makes my lips look lovely

Do not like double serum

loveisanopensore · 05/03/2022 19:40

Their cream to powder eyeshadow are gorgeous. Sometimes I can get them in tkmaxx.

PinkCosYouAreSoVery · 05/03/2022 19:41

These are all really interesting to read, thanks!

For those of you that like the blue eau ressourcante - can you describe it for me? If I love the smell of the tonic products, do you think I'd like it? I'm not keen on the red fragrance. Im keen to try the eau de Jardins.

Lip,perfector is also nice and the lip oils

Have eyeliner too

And the perfumes

I like most Clarins

Body lotion is very good

mehchristmas · 05/03/2022 19:52

I tried the hand cream sample in store and it smelt of urine. The one step comfort cleanser has changed to something that smells like orange squash. I like the double serum, shower tonic, eau dynamisante perfume.

woodhill · 05/03/2022 19:57

Double serum - yes - great product

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 05/03/2022 20:01

Not impressed with Double Serum. Meh

Love their Eau Dynamisante bubble bath / shower creme / soap / perfume (the latter in small amounts).

Love Beauty Flash Balm.

Face oils are ok. Again, a bit meh for the price. I prefer Decleor for that kind of product.

VaginaRegina · 05/03/2022 22:08

I got a sample size of the Rose Radiance moisturiser and absolutely LOVED it. Sadly, as it's £77 for a 50ml pot, I won't be buying any unless I win the lottery.

(I got the sample size as part of a GWP when buying the hand and nail cream, and the facial tanner drops, both of which I also like a lot)

I used to use Clarins loads as I used to work in France sometimes and it was really cheap (to be fair this is in the days of the French
Franc!). Yes to much of the stuff mentioned in this thread. I also used to really like their sun cream. Smelt lovely.

PiscesSt · 05/03/2022 22:18

I don’t like their skincare. I do like their Eau Dynamisante products. Also the Tonic range is lovely.

CinnamonJellyBeans · 05/03/2022 23:58

The "red" perfume is Eau dynamisante. I bought TWO sets of it based on mumsnet recommendations. Smells like distilled piss + flyspray.

Lookingoutside · 06/03/2022 02:10

I don’t like Beauty Flash Balm at all. It makes me look embalmed.

Eau Dynamisante Body wash is an absolute treat. It smells expensive and spa like.

The body firming cream is gorgeous. Obviously it does not make your body firm as that is impossible (change the name please Clarins!) but it’s a lovely treat post gym shower.

Pantsomime · 06/03/2022 02:23

Love the face creams and shower gels. Lipstick is like paint stripper & took several layers of skin off. Flaky mascara

MummytoCSJH · 06/03/2022 03:20

I love their cushion foundation.

PAFMO · 06/03/2022 08:21

I love the yellow cleanser, the pink cleanser though (soothing one) smells "pink" and I won't repurchase.
The Blue Orchid is (IMO) no better than any facial oil out there and the patchouli smell is disconcerting. Who knew that orchids made you smell like a hairy biker? I won't repurchase that.
On another thread someone has said one of the foundations (can't remember the name) has changed her life.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/03/2022 08:30

I like the red perfume.
Hand cream is okay but Aveda much better.
Can get nicer face oils for far less £££ in Holland and Barrett.
Body lotion is nice, as is the body scrub.
I like their eyeliners but don't really rate their other makeup.

Gonnagetgoing · 06/03/2022 08:32

Their orange cleanser in a big bottle is nice. Beauty flash balm is nice.

I should like their serums that go into moisturisers but don’t!

Blue orchid oil is great but I don’t rate their makeup at all.

Gonnagetgoing · 06/03/2022 08:34

The beauty flash balm saved my bacon several times in my 20s when hungover and had to work! Blush

EmmaStone · 06/03/2022 08:38

I'm not a brilliant beauty aficionado by any stretch, but I've been using Clarins Hydraquench SPF face cream for about 20 years.

70sDuvet · 06/03/2022 22:38

I love the lotion cleanser and the lotus oil
I went in last week to repurchase a cleanser and there was quite a good gwp on. I was also looking for a new eyebrow product that day so bought theirs.... dear god it is awful.

It will not go on with a light hand, it's about 20 shades darker than the packaging, it smears even after setting. The "powder' feels cold and slimy to apply, the mascara bit is just gloopy. And it flakes.
It makes me look like a 13 year old with access to a poundland eyeliner and no mirror.
And it was £25! I was planning to buy one by NYX or similar but was swayed by free goodies. I should have just bought 2 cleansers

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 07/03/2022 10:16

@70sDuvet . I would take it back, if you have the time and energy. If it's darker than the packaging, how were you supposed to judge?

I love the Jardins range. The body cream has quite a strong fragrance, which I like.

Unfortunately the yellow and blue tonic? shower gels have been reformulated, and just don't smell the same, which is very sad, as they were lovely.

@70sDuvet - Clarins makeup I've found is just a bit dated and doesn't work for me.

I used to work almost opposite a dept store with Clarins counter so would try and sometimes buy a few bits.

None of it impressed me much! I think I bought a powder like you said and also a lipstick and I was unimpressed.

But then again I bought Dior silver eyeliner (rubbish, fell apart!) and wasn't impressed and by the Dior show mascara (waterproof) last year! Even their lip pencil in a YLBB isn't that nice!

Gonnagetgoing · 07/03/2022 11:46

With a GWP I got a sample of a blue bath oil. Very nice. But not nice enough that I'd buy full price.

At one point you could go to Clarins and get free GWP samples which I did for holidays. Didn't need to buy anything.

OrinocoGlow · 07/03/2022 13:13

Another vote for Double Serum and the Blue Orchid Oil. I also like their cream cleanser, some of their moisturisers and Eau Dynamisante in summer. They do good eye-liner (it's really good imo) and good mascara.

I don't like Clarins eye creams or foundations on my skin although I haven't tried them recently as it's an expensive mistake if I don't like it.
