Need help finding a hand scrub for my mum

A couple of years ago I picked up a gardeners hand care gift set from Waitrose as an extra Christmas present for my mum. My mum loved it as one of the tubes was a hand scrub that made her hands so soft yet also cleaned the ingrained dirt from gardening. I think it may have been a Crabtree & Evelyn set but can’t find anything similar on their website. Anyone familiar with the range or able to suggest anything similar please?

I remember it, surprised they don't do it any more. Plenty of choices on Amazon. You can also use any body scrub, but salt and olive oil works well too.

I think it was probably the gardeners hand cream by Crabtree and Evelyn, it's on Amazon Smile they do the kit with cream and scrub or just the scrub alone. I worked there when I was a student and it was so good. I miss using it when the shop was quiet Grin

Yes it was lovely - miss their products

I use different scrubs - I like the rose one from Aromatherapy associates, the Aesop one but are more pricey - I wait for offers.

I’d really recommend Tam Mason sugar hand scrubs (and the mandarin and lime body scrub is absolutely divine) www.tammason.co.uk/shop/

Thank you so much. I didn’t think of looking for it on Amazon! I’ll take a look at the other ones you suggested too. I wanted to get some for Mother’s Day.

Not a hand scrub as such but I use this like soap and it leaves hands so soft and moisturised. I don't garden often and wear gloves when I do, so have never tested it with ground in dirt.

As much as I loathe MLM’s, the Neals Yard hand polish is the nicest and most effective hand scrub I’ve ever used.

DedalusBloom · 06/03/2022 12:40

You could make your own- I do.

Brown granulated sugar
Coconut oil
Lime juice

Melt a dollop of coconut oil and mix with the brown sugar when cool ( so the sugar doesn't melt) until you get a slightly damp consistency- it can't be too wet). It will solidify at room temperature. Big squirt of lime juice which also acts as a preservative (up to a point) essential oils can also be used.

Put in a jar with a wide mouth so its easy to scoop out, decorate with a ribbon - ta dah!Grin

This one is amazing, I use it every couple of weeks, bought from holland & barrat on a whim on sale

Easiest way though is to pour a teaspoon of olive oil in your hand with a teaspoon of sugar and rub all over your hands. Easy to do over the kitchen sink. Then rinse. Sometimes swap olive with lemon juice if there are no cuts on the skin.

Was coming on to suggest Crabtree and Evelyn. Their scrub was incredible! I used to 60 second hand fix

I love this one. In fact I’m going to order some now I’m reminded of it!
