Prom dress for petite DD?

DD is 5 foot tall. Can anyone suggest somewhere we might find a prom dress for her? It must also be (to quote DD) "not stupidly expensive".

TIA

You could get a tulle one from Asos and then cut the amount needed off yourself as it's not a finished hem.

I've no idea but I feel your pain, we are just starting to look for one for my DD but she's 5'9 and a size 6 so very very slim. We've got appointments at a couple of places to try one some dresses and see what kind of thing she likes. Has your DD any idea what she wants? Does she want full-length? Do you know of any places near to you where you could have alterations done? Taking the hem up if the skirt is a simple shape should be straightforward and it might open up more options for you.

Quiz & Shein do dresses in petite that would pass for prom dresses.
Depends if she's wanting high Street offerings or wanting to go to a bridal store?

If she's not wanting a long maxi dress then Oh Polly would be good because their dresses come up pretty short otherwise so she'd get away with not having petite

DD has no idea what she wants. She thinks not full length, but no clue beyond that. She normally lives in jeans - wearing a dress is a foreign concept. Ideally it would be high street or something we could try on. The bridal shops locally fall into DD's definition of "stupidly expensive".

Loads of cheaper petite stuff on ASOS

Sensible girl!
Another vote for looking on ASOS too.

My DDs prom dresses were Little Mistress and Biba respectively , both were in the sale. Both dds about 5'4 and needed to be taken up which is annoying as it adds to the cost .

I avoided the boutique type places where you need an appointment as they're likely to be expensive.

asos do nice petite stuff. Also tkmaxx do some good ones in small American sizes.

in a similar position a few years ago - ASOS are brilliant. Anything “midi” in normal range will be maxi. Actually ended up with a great dress from the “tall” range that was meant to be knee length but was perfect midi length on DD!!

My sister got her prom dress on eBay, it was hand made to her exact measurements, she's very tall, and it fit like a glove. She looked absolutely stunning, It was only around £80 aswell! I don't have a link unfortunately as it was around 7 years ago but worth looking up bespoke dresses.

My daughter is 5'3" and a size 4. We went to a local prom dress shop in an ex pit village, we live up North, and they do all the alterations for you for free. Might be worth ringing a few shops to see if they offer something similar.
