Hi,

So was at the hairdressers recently and had the following...

Gloss colour just at the root to cover grey
A toner mid lengths to ends
Olaplex treatment
Trim and blow dry (or cut and finish)

What would you expect to pay?

80-100, West Yorkshire (not Leeds City Centre)

allfurcoatnoknickers · 03/03/2022 20:30

£200 at least.

CrushedPistachios · 03/03/2022 20:31

£120 would be my guess

pradavilla · 03/03/2022 21:01

Totally depends where u are and what type of place it is.

Cheap place maybe £50-£60, average place up to £100 and expensive place £100+ If in London way more than numbers above!

EllaPaella · 03/03/2022 21:07

My hairdresser charges £18 for olaplex. I pay £100 for balyage, toner, olaplex, cut and blow dry.

Notwithittoday · 03/03/2022 21:09

About £100-£120

WhatsitWiggle · 03/03/2022 21:10

£80 - £100 at mine

Which is why I only do it 3x a year and in between use a box dye to touch up the visible roots at my hair line

moonbedazzled · 03/03/2022 21:12

I'm in north west England. At my hairdressers that would be about £110/120. Maybe £140/160 if you had a senior stylist or the owner (can't remember her fancy title!). I'm guessing you were charged a lot more than that? The prices are shocking.

NinjaQueen · 03/03/2022 21:13

I think about £90 at mine but I live in a small town up north.

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 03/03/2022 21:19

My hairdresser was mobile and would have charged about £70ish for that.
She's now renting a chair in a salon, wouldn't surprise me if it's closer to £100 now.

AnnaDelvorkina · 03/03/2022 21:25

Mine is 110€ for wash, toner, cut and blowdry.
60-100€ for colour.
He doesn't use Olaplex but it's 40-45€ for a similar product from another range.

So 200 to 250€ depending on the thickness of your hair and the exact requirements of the colour.

DogsAndGin · 03/03/2022 21:43

£120

HunterHearstHelmsley · 03/03/2022 22:06

Just checked my hairdresser

£58 for the colour, treatment, cut and blow
£13 toner
£71 total

I pay £65 for full head highlights, olaplex, cut and blow with no toner.

JaceLancs · 04/03/2022 01:35

£45 at my hairdresser

DoorWasAJar · 04/03/2022 01:44

@KrakowDawn

How on earth do ordinary people afford these things?
I cut (and sometimes colour) my own hair but I did use to work as a hairdresser/colour tech many moons ago. No idea how care workers like me could afford any of this.
Orpheline · 04/03/2022 01:56

20 years ago I paid about £150 for this. Now I've embraced the white.

ilovepixie · 04/03/2022 02:01

Some of these prices are shocking! My hair cut recently went up from £8 to £12 and I though that was expensive!

Crunched · 04/03/2022 02:06

£108 plus £20 for the Olaplex.
Rural Oxfordshire.

Malibuismysecrethome · 04/03/2022 04:23

I was charged £130 recently and the colour didn’t take properly. I felt like I had been robbed, if I do my own hair I get compliments, everyone laughed this time. It’s not hard to dye your own hair and buy a good treatment that you would get several uses from.

WTF475878237NC · 04/03/2022 04:39

Just checked my salon and it would be £85. Not London.

FizzyThinking · 04/03/2022 10:07

Interesting. Sounds like I paid the average - £135.

I was genuinely surprised because I didn't pay much more when I had all of the above, plus a balayage or full head of highlights!

I also thought the amount of time you're in the chair would make a big difference to the price. I was in and out in an hour and a half. When I have highlights, I'm in there for hours!

Can you buy toners online? Tbh, I don't see a massive difference to the way it was before. I didn't think toners or Olaplex were that expensive! I'm sure it was £15-20.
