Postpartum hair loss- is it guaranteed?

I’ve recently had a baby and whilst pregnant my hair became really full and thick. After years of thin, lifeless hair and getting extensions to give it a bit of life, I’ve found myself with hair I used to dream of!

I’m now awaiting the postpartum hair loss stage to kick in. I wondered if everyone has this loss? Or did any of you somehow keep your thicker hair? Is it inevitable my hair will do back to it old way?

I didn't notice any hair loss after both my children but I have naturally thick hair anyway.. I didn't notice any more than usual in the shower nor any new baby hairs growing out

I think it is inevitable as when you are pregnant, hair stops it’s usual cycle of growing and falling out. So it doesn’t fall out at all. But then it restarts it’s cycles and all the hair that should have fallen out in the previous six months falls out over a very short time span. Sorry.

I wonder what happens if you get pg again straight away?

My hair was amazing pregnant the only noticeable hair loss I got was I receeded on the corners of my forehead (generally where men do) it wasnt that noticeable. I can't remember when it grew back but my DS is 3 now and the hair is about 4 inches long. I definitely dont recall clumps falling out and my hair never felt thinner

I didn't have any hair loss, not with either pregnancy.

I did lose hair PP, however I feel that actually my hair is a bit thicker/fuller than it was before I was pregnant.

The most annoying thing is the baby hairs growing from the corners of my forehead! They are about 10cm long now after 2 years and still look odd as the rest of my hair is mid-back.

I lost about 2/3 of my hair when my daughter was three and a half months old. It was horrendous. It only grew back to previous thickness when I started taking Biotin tablets. You can get a year's supply for about £15 from Amazon so I recommend you start taking it now. I took them for a year and when I stopped my hair fell out again so I'm just going to take it indefinitely.

I lost quite a lot from the corners of my forehead but it did grow back

Mine kicked in after about 5 months and was incredible, I’d lose 3 or 4 handfuls every time I washed it and it went on for ages. It doesn’t look different now than before pregnancy though. I finally got decent eyebrows in pregnancy which have stayed. All sorts of odd things can happen during and after pregnancy.
